The book will be coming out September 23, 2008!
Today I thought that I would occasionally do book predictions, not only report on books. One of my favorite series is Eragon. The third book should be coming out in maybe a year. Here are some things I think will happen.
Since I now have over 1000 posts and read both books again, I have new ideas. My old list is below.
1. The Green Dragon Rider is Arya because in Deathwatch in Eragon, he sees a male and female boarding a ship with dragons in the sky.It also would make sense because there hasn't been a female rider mentioned, and there hasn't been a new elf rider for a while. A reason that many people say is that Arya also has green magic, and magic color is the same as dragon color. The color of magic means nothing until you have bonded with the dragon.
2.Oromis and Glaeder will die. They are old and Oromis said that he was lucky to live to train Eragon. They are both crippled as well.
3. Roran. He will save Katrina and get married. He will become ruler of Alagaesia because he has blood of the first human king. He is also a natural leader.
4.Eragon will probably bring someone back from the dead through the vault of souls. The other prediction of Solembum's may have already passed. Eragon got his elf-like strength from under the tree. Some of you may say "It was not totaly beneath the tree," but it doesn't have to be under the roots. It neither says that the weapon is a physical weapon.
5.Murtagh somehow turns good and marries Nasuada. They both like each other.
6. Elva has an important role.
7. Saphira and the green dragon mate.
Just To Clear Some Things Up.
1.The next Dragon is Green because CP said so already.
2.The new book does have Glaeder on the cover.
3. CP did not copy Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, many books/movies have similar plots.
4.The title is Brisingr.
5.This is NOT the last book.
Old Predictions
1. Eragon and Roran get Katrina and defeat the Ra 'zak.
2. The Varden get the green egg.
3. Roran hatches the green egg.
4. Eragon completes his training with Oromis.
5. Eragon and Roran get Rider Swords.
6. The two things Solumbum tells Eragon come true.
7. Murtagh MIGHT turn good.
8. Galbatorix is defeated.
Please tell me what you think will happen.
Eragon Book vs. Movie is also a post by me.
Shurtugal.com has many predictions

«Oldest ‹Older 401 – 600 of 1630 Newer› Newest»the movie aint that great i meen in only went on for 1h and 45 mins. I like all of your predictions but what if nasuada is the new rider and fllas in love with eragon and they go on a boat and never set sail but eragon is so strong he provides fod for everyone. wait no thats 2 wierd
i think the wep under the tree ia the 1st eragons sword as the tree was made 100 or more yrs ago so if it is broms how did it get under the tree i would think that the tree was there when brom lost his sword
in the first book eragon has a dream when his uncle dies that provides alot of clues to the third book, it talked avout two dragons (probly the blue dragon and the green one) in the sky and a man and woman (eragon and that elf chick) leaving on a ship (that fortune teller said hed leave the country for some gay reason) and another man bitchin about something onthe beach (probly eragons cousin)
this may sound like a stupid comment(which it probablly is), but what if Galbatorix was Eragons father? No-one has thought of that
Ok the new rider is going to be Arya, not Roran. That is because once galbatorix is defeated Roran has to be the new king! and since in Eragons dream, he sees a boat leaving with two people and 2 dragons, that further proves that if roran is king hes not on the boat and the dragon flying away is NOT his. Also Eragon will get his new sword thanks to the elves. the prediction was that he would get a weapon from the ROOTS of the menoa tree. Now think for a minute that roots isn't the physical tree roots but the hereditary roots of the elf that became the tree. Eragon will have to trace those roots in order to find the families that have to last 2 remaining swords...one for him and the other for Arya.
Anyway thats what i think could and should happen
Elva will get the next dragon. She already has the silver palm thing only as a star on her forehead.
Well maybe murtagh will kill galbortorix in spite of power and then murtagh then becomes the bad bad guy, and I also think that brom is eragons father arya will probably become a dragon rider roran will become king, and you no how katrina makes roran promise that if galbotorix killed one it would be her well I reckon she will die in that situation, and it says on one site that the next book is coming march 07, or maybe eragon will find someway to free murtagh. And I reckon murtagh said in the ancient lanugae saleena is my mother and didnt say anything about morzan being eragon father meaning brom met saleena when she was running from morzan and doesnt angela say that brom once had a relationship but it didnt end well or something like that.
i think they make a good point. though i think its arya because theres got to be a reason for every thing so so i think thats how they fall in love. i think eragon finds the spell thing though i think he he can without killing himself remove someone from the dead and i think that will probably be brom or eragon the oldest rider. i think roran will be king of alagasia because he lead the whole of cavarhall to the bloody battle! orik will definently be the dwarf king and i think shuikan kill galbotorix. and murtagh and nasuada fall in love. also you may not get this though when murtagh said we are brothers he was wrong i think cause it makes sense. norzan is as blind as a fox same with murtagh falling for galbotorix. while brom and eragon are the betrade because of morzan betrayding brom and murtagh betrading eraqgon. i think m ozan marriede selena first then when she dissapeared she married brom. though did not tell who worked for to abandon eragon. so dont you think its a coincidense cause eragon and brom and eragon are the betrade and morzan and murtagh are he blind. and i think selena commited suicide for eragon cause they new selena was bad. so she did not want any harm to come to eragon. and i think morzan heard the news about borm and selena so he got mad and flung his sword at murtagh cause he was angry. so i think they're step borthers. also oromis will die i thyink protecting eragon.
ty
no thats brom
though what other reason for arya and eragon to be together then?
ur very right eragon finds borms sword under the meanow tree. its blue cause he has a blue dragon ad to sorta prove murtagh and morzan are differnet to eragon and brom is that eragon andf brom have blue dragons and norzan and murtagh have red
i used to think that Brom was Eragons father but now im not so sure, contradicting what someone said earlier when they said Brom fathered Eragon to spite Morzan this is untrue, Morzan didn't know anything about Eragon because Selena had given birth to him secretly and i also think Brom decided to stay in Carvahall out of:
a.) Coincidence
b.) To watch over his son
C.) to watch over his arch enemies son as a threat
I don't think that the next rider is going to be anyone of the main characters it will be someone noone expects like the little girl Eragon cursed by accident (can't remember her name) who knows??
I agree that the film wasn't very good as it missed out the best bits of the books and changed it too much e.g in the film the whole thing takes place in three days!! and Saphira magically grows to full size in the space of her first flight..dissapointment but hopefully the second film will be better as that is my favourite of the books anyway
please tell me if you agree or disagree. Jess
ok i read alot of good opinions but everyone forgot one thing. roran and katrina. katrina made roran swear that he would never ask that she leave him while he is fighting. she made him swear that even if they faced galbatorix himself and only one of them could escape, he would not ask her to leave(pg 180 in eldest) maybe they will face galby and one could escape but they choose not to. so MAYBE galby will kill them and they will die in each others arms. just a thought.
i was just flipping Eldest and i found a mistake; it says that Shrukin's(sp?) rider was killed when Galbatorix stole him. but if that really happened, wouldn't shrukin be DEAD??? so i was thinking that maybe galbatorix is keeping him alive with magic or something like that. also, wouldn't Eragon be more powerful than galbatorix and murtagh?
i think roran will steal arya from eragon so eragon will steal katrina and then katrina becomes the next dragon rider.
i think murtagh and his dragon will, like, change bodies or something and then the oath woun't be valid anymore because they aren't in the same bodies that they were in when they swore the oath.
i just re-read the first two books of the triology and i discovered a couple things:
1. the raven thingy (idk his name) who is said to predict the future screeched "wydra" whenever arya and eragon were talking. "wydra" means fate. So that either means that they are fated to be together, or something else... possibly not that good.
2. in the first book it focuses on murtagh not letting people into his mind, that could become important in book two.
3. Katrina--what is going to happen to her?? i don't think that the ra'zac would keep her alive if she wasn't really important.
4. TORNAC!!! murtagh must have liked him alot, but he's dead... :( I think that tornac might have taught murtagh a lot more than what was revealed, and that he will have a big part in the next book
5. I think that roran might be the one to betray eragon. in eldest he goes slightly crazed and sort of hard hearted horst also said to him "you've grown hard, harder than i could ever be. Just make sure that you don't forget who you are." that might have been some forshadowing. like roran would sell his knowledge of eragon to get katrina back. idk if he'd do that though, because he and eragon are so close. he is not going to be a rider though...
5. murtagh, murtagh, murtagh. well i noticed a certain similarity between himself and aniken (skywalker) they both seemed to have a hard early life, and they both had an unessesary kill of an unarmed (helpless) person. i REALLY hope that isn't forshadowing!!!
See ya'll l8ter
OK i read some comments about murtagh not being related to eragon just because morzorn isn't eragon's dad. they would still share a mother, therefore be half brothers. they would still be relatives. So murtagh's betrayal could still be fufillment of angela's prophecy
also, murtagh says that galbatorix knew eragon's real name. if he did, eragon would already be in his clutches.
i don't think that eragon will use the power that galbatorix is using to gain power because either ormis or his dragon claim that galbatorix gets his power through horrible dark magic of the worst kind. eragon wouldn't sink that low.
I think that Eragon will go to Vroengard and discover some deep magic hidden among the ruins along with maybe riders who hid themselves from galbatorix there.
hey guys now i have something very important to say firstly i have 2 reasons why itll be called enheritance because brom and eragon are well brom is his father. and eragon enheritss 2 things from him. he enherited of being like betrayed you may not get that. and morzan and murtagh enherited being blind as a fox. also i think when brom went into exile he put his sword under the meanow tree. i think wragon goes to the vault of souls to get more power and revives brom back along with his dragon. also i think aray will be the next d rider. roran will be king of alagaesia because he lead cavarhall many miles. oromis will problably die either attempting to kill galbotorix or protect eragon. and brom married selena after morzan that is also partly why he killed morzan. and also in the same gene type of eragon and brom they both had blue d's a nd morzan and murtagh had red d's
ok you wont believe me though the third book is gonna be called Baledr, aryas new dragon. and i think that brom tells eragon the incantions of the sven words so that erago will go to broms family and he will say the words and them they will grant him the swrord.
hey this is the guy that wrote the 7:52 just to get another match one they just have the same genes as murtagh, morzan and finally brom and eragon.
Alright remember in the tale about him in desperate time by the Minoa tree he will get his sword the blue one and so hell have another blade and the other thing will quide them to a secret egg or will be another egg for Roran or Arya.
AFter this they will go upon the secret dark powers swearing in ancients language that they will not use for evil and roran will not turn evil. Then the real battle comes versing galbatorix. BY THE WAY I'M THINKING OF MAKING A FOURTH EXTENSION FOR THIS BOOK LOL.
I've read a few comments about murtaugh being more powerful then eragon..he is'nt.During they're battle on top of the burning plains plateau, before eragon rips murtaugh's helmet off and reveals his identity,I remember reading something similar to this."Eragon could've easily defeated the rider if he wasnt so fatigued".So there we go,even with murtaugh being the only true match for eragon's swordsmanship,(though weve yet to see how keen ol Galby is with a blade)he can't match eragon with his new elf-like physical abilities.Just had to point that out.
i think arya dies and then eragon goes into the vault of souls to get her or something like that. i think it will b similar 2 aragorn going into the dead peoples' lair in the Return of the King. The Trilogy is ver very very similar 2 lord of the rings and star wars, like: Dragon Rider = Jedi
Darth Vader = Morzan
Galbatorix = Darth what's his name (The emporor guy who lures anikin in) and Sauran (Sp?)
Varden = Rebels
Empire = Empire
Ormis = Yoda
Garrow = Luke's Uncle who dies
Urgles = Orks
Ancient Language = the Force
Arya = kinda like leiha, but not Eragon's cousin
Brom = Obi wan, also kinda like gandalf
Durza = sauraman
Eragon = Luke/Frodo/Aragorn/ Harry Potter (They both had SCARS that limited their abilities
yeah, so i just kinda thought that was important
i think Arya will try to raise her dead boyfriend from the dead and die
why would Brom be Eragon's Father? that would just be really random. i am sure Morzan is Eragon's father and that is FINAL!
i think that Nasuda and Orrin (king of sudra) are going to be a couple. They kind of flirt with each other and nasuda asks elva to make sure that orrin is safe as well as herself. They are kind of the same age. aren't they?? murtagh has just gone too far for them to be a couple without some problems. also he's kind of paranoid about his thoughts and identity and stuff. that would annoy me.
ok, when that raven was saying "father and son alike, both blind as bats" he might not have been talking about eragon. he was most likely talking about murtagh and morzan.
Morzan was convinced to go to join galbatorix. he was BLIND to the good in the world and BLIND to the evil that galbatorix possesed.
murtagh was also convinced to join galbatorix. he was BLIND to the destruction his decision would cause and BLIND to another way to escape him without being killed.
i honestly don't think that he was talking about eragon at all. and the "two and one" riddle might have been talking about galbatorix's relationship with shrukin his dragon. it doesn't all have to be about eragon
ok, does anyone else feel sorry for arya. i mean this little kid who is less than half ur age is OBBSESSED with u! then you say: um, we're friends, ONLY friends (inthe ancient language too!) and then hey is like. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. MARRY ME! " and then you are like "EWW get a way!"BUT he STILL loves u. i'd be pretty annoyed
i think that maybe eragon will go with trianna. he seemed to like her in eldest. saphira doesn't like her but what the heck
*sizzle*
Everyone forgot that shruikan isn't in fact galbatorix's real dragon. I somehow have the feeling that the spell that galbatorix put on it gets destroyed and shruikan escapes him or turns his back on him and helps eragon kill him.
what if eragon's name in the ancient language was eragon? i bet no one would ever guess his name that wat :)
we all know that the next dragon rider has 2 b a girl, since we know the next dragon is a boy, which means it will be Saphira's mate. But the next dragon rider has 2 b a girl because if saphira chooses the next dragon, that means eragon will be romantically linked 2 the next dragon rider....so yeah it better be a girl
the next rider can't be Nasuda b/c she needs 2 hook up with Murtagh b/c they r the perfect couple.
i don't think galbatorix is eragons father, but it would be cool if he was like in this epic battle and eragon was like, "you made my father do bad stuff." and then he was like, "no, eragon, I AM YOUR FATHER!!!!!!" but that would also b kinda weird. yeah, i definatly think that morzan is eragon's father and NOT brom.
whoever said the comment about the dragons shrinking themselves, i totally agree with you!!!! because if the dragons were the size of small house cats, NO ONE would ever notice them!!!! and it explains why the galbatorix lost half his army in the spine. And maybe eragon came across the egg partially because the egg was attracted to the dragony presence in the spine. Great thinking everyone and keep up the good work!
i think that in the end everyone who isn't evil will sail away to different lands. galbatorix will be all by himself and tremedously sad because eragon killed his dragon. and he can't get a new one because they are living in the different lands. haha on galbatorix. and whoever calls him galby is annoying me. Say G or Galbat or something like that Galby sounds like a kitty cat. and galbatorix is a evil person, not a kitty cat
JB,
Ok, ormis is not going to fight. i am sorry but if u were paying attention, you would know that ormis is too weak to fight. he said so himself and his dragon is missing a leg, which would not help things.
Glader will die when ormis does. thats just how it is going to happen. even if he didn't die he would not want another rider since he had be bound to ormis for hundreds of years
Shrukin has been bound to galbatorix for hundreds of years. he would not just want to be good all of a sudden and pick a different rider. plus he is only kept alive by EVIL magic placed on him by galbatorix.
orik will not be a rider. it says in eldest that when any race is part of the treaty with the dragons they are a little "bound" together, and that they are changed by each other. Galder said that both dwarves and dragons found the idea of being joined with each other replusive. So Orik CANNOT be a rider, and dwarves CANNOT be added to the contract thing.
Sorry i was a little harsh
<3
when did selena die? honestly, when?? is she alive? when did she die?
omg do u know what would be so sweet? if eragon was like "arya i want u to be happy!" so he risked his life to try to get her boyfriend back somehow, but then he is like about to die b/c he is stupid and trying to bring someone back from the dead, so she merges her strength and the menoa tree's strength and then he lives and she is like. "I LOVE U!" and then he is like "cool"
i think the title of the third book should start with an "E" and have six letters like the first two books also if you let people make movies out of the books it should follow the book as close as possible like in the first book it takes a lot more than a week to get to Farthen Dur unlike in the movie
ok, just 2 let all of you who think brom is eragon's father, he ISN'T!!!! There would have been at least some hints that they were father and son. sure, everyone thinks that just because brom and eragon both had bluse dragons named saphira and were betrayed by morzan/murtagh, it means that their father and son, but it DEFINATLY DOESN'T!!!! as most of you have already pointed out, cp has followed the storyline of Star Wars. it would really make sense for him to put morzan as eragon's father. also, eragon definatly would have felt deferently for brom if he was his father. i agree that there are some things that brom told saphira that he didn't tell eragon, but saphira would definatly tell eragon if brom was his FATHER! Also, brom wouldn't have given Zar'oc to eragon if it didn't belond 2 him.
JB, ur predictions were really insightful, but i don't think that they will happen. Ormis is to old 2 fight, and Oric will not be a dragon rider. sry, but he won't. like it said in the book, dwarves weren't part of the pact the elves and dragons and humans made. they just jumped into their holes when the fighting began. so orik won't b a dragon rider.
Se onr sverdar sitja hvass!
I HOPE YOU READ MY COMMENT AND BE AGREE WITH ME
IN FIRST PLACE, ARYA --MUST-- BE THE THIRD RAIDER, BECAUSE HER DRAGON MUST BE THE SHAPHIRA'S MATE
ALSO IT'S A GREAT PREDICTION THAT MURTHAGH BECOMES GOOD AND IS THE NEW KING WITH NASUADA
A GOOD IDEA FOR THE NEXT BOOK COULD BE, TOO, THE ARYA'S DEATH AND THEN ERAGON TURNS HER BACK TO LIFE
AND, YEAH. WHY NOT.....
SHRUIKAN MUST BE SO ANGRY FOR BEING THE SLAVE OF GALBATORIX SINCE A CENTURY..
I'M SURE HE WANTS A PAYBACK AND HELPS TO KILL HIM
IF PAOLINI DOES THAT, SO MUCH PEOPLE WILL LOVE HIS STORIES MUCH MORE; AT THE END, THE END IT'S THE MARK OF THE STORY
I think it is likely that Murtagh, if he ever does, will turn good after Galbatorix is destroyed, because he will already have been forced to swear in the Ancient Language to be loyal to him. Thus maybe someone will kill Galbatorix, thus freeing Murtagh, and then he might turn good.
Eragon won't be king because he said in the first book he didn't want to be
The egg wasn't attracted to a dragon presence in the spine, but Arya was trying to get it to ner there and give it to Brom because he was the Varden's person there. It even said so
I think Orik will be the king of dwarves because he is Hrothgar's nephew. Eragan will find the first rider's sword in Menoa tree.
Galbatorix will be defeated and Urubaen will be the elves' capital.
good news!!! they hired someone for katrina and the twins for the next eragon movie. i was like what the heck are they gonna do with them not being in the 2nd book? plus they KILLED the ra'zac so what is rorans whole story gonna be about?
we'll just have to see...
everyone, roran does NOT have any dragon rider blood in him. although eragon and murtagh are rorans cousins, their dragon rider blood does not flow in his viens. eragon and murtagh get their dragon ridery blood from morzan, who is not a blood related relative of roran's. also, i don't think that rorasn will be the next rider. he got a little weird at the end, with hacking people on the head with hammers and stuff like that. he might still be a good guy, but i think the only people who could probably be the next dragon rider is either arya or nasuda.
elva and eragon are brother and sister. that would make so much sense.
its pretty obvious that morzan is eragons father, look at the history of the books compared to the starwars movies. Compare them, the plot line is almost exactly the same.
"Luke, i am your father" (Darth Vader)
"Eragon, Morzan is your father"
both of them are the bad guys underneath the main bad guy (Morzan under Galbatorix, Darth Vader under the Emporer).
I remember reading something similar to this."Eragon could've easily defeated the rider if he wasnt so fatigued". thats not true, eragon could have beaten him with the sword but Murtagh was much stronger magically. i read the comment earlier about how Galabatorix stole Shruikan and killed its rider..how is that possible when the dragon dies with the rider!! is it a mistake or is it to be reveiled in the next book. I DONT THINK THE NEXT RIDER IS GOING TO BE ONE OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS ITS FAR TOO OBVIOUS! it could be Brom's friend who helped the people of Carvahall 'Jeod' i think his name is..your never too old!!!
Murtagh might have a plan hatching, he might of purposly said the oaths to galbatorix to get thorn and might find a counter in the ancient language to counter the oaths and erase galbatorixs memory of his true name!!
Then thru that thorn wont serve galbatorix any more and fight with the next dragon rider and eragon and saphira and thorn to defeat galbatorix who kills himself buy using a spell that took to much energy!!!
ok, so there are a couple things i know. i wont say them but i will hint. you guys are totally leaving Elva out in the Blue. you are also leaving out Solembum. you got to think of what there role in the 3rd book is. Solembum grew a social relationship with Sapphiria and a pretty close one. Elva is going to do something which you will see in 3rd book. but if you want predictions think about all the other stuff you left out also.
I think it wouldve been better that instead of the green egg hatching for Roran, it should hatch for Arya. It is possible that Oromis should die in the 3rd book after he guides Eragon.
Also, during the battle, Murtagh gets a chanse to kill Galbatorix and takes it, freeing him from his control.
I also think Arya should die in the middle of the book, just for a while untill Eragon goes to the Rock of Kuthian and speaks his name and so opens the Vault of Souls just as Solembum told him to go when all seems lost and brings Arya back from the dead. In the last book of the Inheritance Trilogy, i think that it is important to learn more about Broms past.
As for rescuing Katrina, i think this should happen at the begining so Roran isnt so bitter the whole way threw and the Varden's next King should be Oirk as Hrothgar named him his heir after he fostered him.
These are just sugestions and i hope they are good because if they are taken into account, i wouldnt want to be blamed for anything i messed up. Im only 12 and i can't wait for the last book to come out and see what is to happen, but im sad the story will end.
wouldnt it be kinda cool if Arya hooked up with Murtagh and they left Eragon. Angela said he would live a long long long life...but out of Alagaisia, i think at least.
SO Murtagh and Arya get together.
Saphira and the new dragon, Galbatorix gets his head chopped off, Nasuda and Orrin etc.
I dont get the part where if Saphira chooses one mate, Eragon will chose its rider. If its Roran like someone said then well... good luck =P
Ok I haven't read everything people have said so sorry if it doesn't follow... And also I haven't read the books for a while so I'm kinda rusty.
Orik didn't like the idea, but he did actually ride Saphira... perhaps the union of another race, the dwarves, would provide the trio of new riders (one from each race) with the power to defeat Galbatorix somehow? Not that I think he will be the new rider.
It was weird reading all the Roran as a rider theories - that never crossed my mind. Why does the new rider have to have the same blood? Surely that wouldn't be used - it makes the riders weaker because they are from the same family, surely - it just seems strange.
I have no idea really who will be the next rider (must reread) but my immediate thought was Nasuada for some reason, when I read Christopher Paolini's comment somewhere on the net about the new rider being obvious (once we find out).
For perhaps similar reasons as for Roran not being a rider, I wouldn't expect it to be Arya... too predictable? Duties as royalty? That would make the love-match too simple too I think.
I'd forgotten about the mystery bit of the ancient language - good theory.
i don't think oromis wiil die.Its just not done, although Brom did die so you never know{i was really mad when Brom died.}Orik will definetly become king. I mean he IS the hier.Anouther thing, saphira WON'T die.Just thinking that is stupid.
Now with Murtagh, I think eragon wil somehow free murtagh.
I'ts preatty obvious that roran will get the last dragon.
I think that mabye somehow, when eragon opens the vault of souls he will get like awesome power and wisdom from it and mabye eragon and arya will hook up
I think Roran will become the last Dragon Rider because practically Eragon's whole family was a family of Riders: Murtagh, Morzan :<, and of course, Eragon! So it makes perfect sense Roran would be the next Rider. Plus it adds a bit of irony to the book.
Eragon and Arya have to hook up in the last book i mean the whole idea is to have a happy ending right? (Even if J.K.R. wants to kill off Harry)
Everyone listen up! If u really wanna read the 3rd book then write a note to Chris Paolini telling him to hurry up with the book. I really wanna read it! And I mean REALLY wanna read it! Almost as much as HP 7, well not that much. But I would do almost anything to get my hands on it!
I could be wrong, but I dont think that anything was mentioned about family members being Riders. I don't think that Selena's blood gives Roran any particular advantage.
Is there a posibility of Murtagh's vow being canceled when Galbatorix dies?
I don't think that Inheritance refers to Eragon's inheritance from Brom... but rather the inheritance from the old age of riders to the new.
This is how I see it, Arya will become the next dragon rider from the hints given. In the first and second book it talks about her emerald green eyes, and her magic being green. From the author the next dragon will be green, and the color of magic is the color of the riders dragon. Roran will save Katrina with the help of Eragon and will marry her, soon to become the new king. Orik will become the next drawf king. Galbatorix will be killed by the ancient language true name which were Brom's last words. Brom is not Eragons father but his grandfather who called his son Morzan because of his true evilness and took his sons sword. Then in the end Eragon and Ayra with the help of the elves will go and try to find new land with Saphira and the green dragon contuing the race of dragons. just a thought endless possibilities
i think baldor son of horst will be the next rider as for the rest i dnt know
i think that arya did show that she kind of liked eragon at the end of eldest. she started to say something, but then eragon interupted her.
omg! what if eragon is paralyzed in book 3. that would be horrible. in the little sneak peak at the end of eldest, when he was thrown from saphira, he said something about his NON RESPONSIVE LIMBS!
the next rider is ARYA
1)the color of the rider's dragon is the same as the rider's magic; arya's magic is green/emerald so is the next dragon
2)if the dragons are attracte to eachother, then so are the riders so the next rider cannot be a boy
3)in eragon's dream, there is a tall man and woman boarding a ship and there are two dragons flying in the air; the man is eragon and the woman is arya, the 2 dragons are Saphira and the green one; the man on the beach is roran, if he became a rider, then his dragon would most likely be with him.
4)if roran was the next rider, it would take too long for him to become strong enough in magic to really make any difference in the last book; arya is already more powerful that eragon and would be perfect for the the next position as rider
I agree that the book was WAY better than the movie, i mean they changed the plot COMPLETELY! Ya, I certainly hope the next 1 is better. Hey, if u go to http://
www.moviemistakes.com/film6400
u can see a lot of mistakes they made in the movie!
I've decided. No one rides the green dragon.
I have one thing to say.Eragon can't fallin love with nasuda!remember angals pediction?he would fall in love with some one of noble beirth. her father was travling accrosed the land to the vadern when she was borin. so SHE CAN NOT BE THE THREED RIDER!I belive that arya will will ride the green dragon, then Saphira will mate with the green dragon and the vardrn gets eges then eragon and arya fallin love.(Eragon was alredy in love with her.)
Oh andsomething elths brom is eragons father!(whoever thought that he was his gandfather is an idiot)I think that saphira alredy knows that hes eagon;s father because, she said thatBrom toled her alot of things.I also think she knows what his dieing words were bueEragn is not old enofe
DOES SOMEONE OUT THERE KNOW WHEN THE BOOK COMES OUT.I'M GOING TO GO CRASY
A few things have been confirmed by the author.
* The content of the cover is one of the few things confirmed by Paolini. Apparently the cover will feature an emerald green dragon looking to the right.[1]
* In March of 2006, Christopher Paolini was interviewed[2] by the fan site www.shurtugal.com where he revealed the following information:
* When a dragon and Dragon Rider become linked, the Rider's magic immediately takes on the color of the dragon's scales. Paolini states that although Eragon's magic is blue, he could produce red fire if he wanted to.
* At the end of Eldest, the Varden will still favor Nasuada in terms of leadership, but Paolini has hinted that in book 3 this might change.
* Paolini has said that it is possible that Eragon may have unknown family members that have not been introduced so far in the series, though he did not confirm this.
* Paolini also mentioned that in book 3 it will be revealed if Saphira ever finds a mate.
* More information about Tornac (Murtagh's old friend and trainer) will be revealed.
* Elva, along with "every other character," will have an important role to play.
* It is unclear how Thorn matured to rival Saphira despite their age difference, but Christopher Paolini has stated that it will be revealed in the third book of the trilogy.[3]
* At the Eragon movie's premiere, Christopher Paolini said that the third book has been named, but Random House wishes to keep the name a secret until the time is right.[4]
i think that roran is the next rider bc he is strong willed and intelligent. i think arya is not the rider because chistopher paolini said it does not matter what color the magic is eragons magic could be red if he wanted it to be. i think info is under the tree orimis may die in the next book it did say that he did not have long to live. i hope orik does not become king bc you will not see him as much. i also hope angela and solubum are seen more in this book. has anyone heard anything about the title being Empire? i don't care for the name hopefully it will be something different. these are only opinions i hope some do come true but some may not everytime i read the first and second book i have different opinions. i hope that the third book comes out in the mean time Atra esterni ono thelduin/Mor'ranr lifa unin hjarta onr/Un du evarinya ono varda.(May good fortune rule over you/ peace live in your heart/and the stars watch over you).
here is a random thought but since on shorturgal.com, chris says eragon has blue fire but he can make it red, so why not other colors? like green such as arya's, maybe she just likes green and the third dragon being green is just to throw you off. just some random thoughts, and oh, who are those grey guys????????
idk... nasuda and eragon might fall in love. i mean in eldest, they hugged, at least 2 times. i don't think arya and eragon have EVER hugged.
ok, orik doesn't have to be the king, just because he is the the heir of the old king, doesn't mean that he will be the new king. The clans choose the king from the 12 clan leaders. orik, might be the new clan leader, but that doesn't garuntee him the position of king.
Also, arya can be a rider. she doesn't have to be the queen after her mother dies if she doesn't want to. She said so herself in eldest. she actually gave up being the princess when she agreed to help the varden. then when she was almost killed, her mother agreed to talk to her again.
personally, i think that the book is going to go like this
1. roran and eragon share some major binding time, and save katrina, kill the razac etc.
2. eragon is going to finish his training
3. eragon and saphira are going to save the 3rd dragon egg.
4. they'll give it to arya to bring to the elves, and while they are traveling, it hatches for her
5. saphira and green dragon will fall in love, likewise for arya and eragon
6. eragon will remove his curse from elva
7. brigit (whose husband was eaten in eldest) does whatever she's gonna do to roran for causing her husband's death
8. this part i am a bit unsure of: either eragon and arya will help free murtagh from his oath, by revearsing stuff in the ancient language, or he will remain evil
9. someone is gonna kill galbatorix
10 eragon and arya will leave alagaisia to go live with the elves that didn't come to alagasia, and then they will have one kid
i agree with anonymous about the looking after the egg thing but i dont think it will be eragon. someone has to die. so either it is him and roran and lots of people die or eragon dies and its roran who looks after the egg. also eragons going to marry the elf- he has to! and i think if murtagh turns good he'll fall in love with the vqrdens leader.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but here's part of what happens....Shortly after the Battle of the Burning Plains, a Varden spy made an amazing discovery. Elvin historians researched fervently to verify his claim, a passage into Uru’baen was found. Pushing their advantage, the Varden quickly assembled a strike team that included twelve of the elves best spell casters, Nasuada, and finally Eragon.
They traveled north through the spine, intending to cut eastward across the plains to Uru’baen, but their plan was foiled by two things. First, Eragon stumbled upon the Vault of Souls, where eleven dragon eggs were found. Soon afterward, a group of Shades attacked, supported by a battalion of imperial troops, slaying many of the Varden, and capturing four of the Varden’s eggs. Nasuada gave her life protecting the remaining eggs.
As the Varden group fled back to Surda, three of the eggs were lost to the wilderness. When they arrived in Surda, tired and footsore, a new leader, Lord Raylborn Theod, was appointed. Eragon faces many paths, and all of them lead to a final confrontation with Murtagh and Galbatorix. Now, with new riders on the Varden’s side, and reports of Shades, nothing is as clear-cut as before, and all could be lost in an instant.
If Eragon brings anyone back from the dead, my opinion of CP will plummet, that is one of the lowest, most pointless tools employed by an author. if you can defeat death you can defeat anything. only death is final. also i suspect that galbatorix, not brom, is the father of either Eragon or Murtagh, remember how he tried to find selena after she disapeared? and how he let Morzan keep Murtagh and Selena a secret? why would he do that unless there was some interest in it for himself. has it occured to you that Murtagh might rule after galbatorix dies, he is after all, only being "evil" because he is bound to galbatorix
Hmmmm... well here's what I think:
1) Roran and Eragon rescue Katrina Roran finds out truth that it's Sloans fault Garrow died... (yea it is, ratted out Eragon to Ra'zac)no clue what after that...
2) Eragon goes back to elves... gets a riders sword.
3) Oramis dies
4) Varden get grren egg from Galbatorix.
5) Arya gets the green dragon, I don't think anyone else can...
6) I think that Galbatorix's dragon turns on him.. that'd be possible after all it wasn't really his dragon he stole it .
7) Galbatorix dies -obvious i think-
8) Arya falls in love with Eragon. YAY
9) Orik beomes dwarf king and Roran and Katrina become king and queen of Algesia.
10) hmm.. toughy I think that Eragon and Arya leave with the elves to go to the elves homeland.
yea thats purty much it I'm not sure about Murtagh I think he could go either way hope he dont die :P
Obviously I didn't read all of these comments, but of the one's that I read, there was one thing I didn't see. Paolini revealed in an interview that, although color could be altered, if you are a rider, then your magic will be the color of the dragon's, which is the color of their scales. Point: The cover of the third book reveals a green dragon! Now who uses green magic!? That's right.....Arya.
well think i mean maybe SELENA was a rider
u guys just think maybe eragons mom was a rider i know chances are slim but just take a moment to think bout it
ISN'T ANY ONE CURIOUS ABOUT TORNAC?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I mean come on.... CP totaly leaves you hanging i wonder if Eragon goes to train with Tornac...............
i wonder...........................
For Arya's green magic, the author said that the regular colour of magic turns to the colour of the dragons scale when the link between rider and dragon is established. This might lead to confusion as we saw Arya's green magic in the first book.
Poalini also said that there were hints in the first books as to who the new rider was, therefore the new rider is not a new character.
Angela told Eragon of his romance: " She is of noble birth"
We know Eragon is leaving for ever more, so the two dragons are Saphira and most likely the new dragon.
Eragon will not die against Galbatorix because he was fortold long life/eternal life, and if he dies at seventeen years old it doesn't work.
As for Eragons father, the birds riddles points to Brom and "you must be foolish not to listen to the Blagdon". Also there is the number of years Brom has been in Carvahall compared to Eragons age.
There is also what Brom has told Saphira to conceal from Eragon until the time comes.
As to what lies in the vault of souls, I think it is the source of the King and Murtaghs otherworldy power. When a being is killed, it soul goes to this vault and maybe the remaining energy of the killed being is kept within the soul. Galbatorix may have found a way to enter this vault and use energy of the souls to power himself and Murtagh.
well i think that roran is going to go off on his own quest too go and kill the razak while earagon goes to finish his training or to help the elves with their march on the capital city
orik will become king of the dwarfs
yes ayra will fall in love with earagon
i do think it would be much cooler for roran to get the dragon egg and for him to do the hammer bashing thing he dose so well :)
i think that maybe ayra hides her feelings for earagon until he brings her back to life with the door of lost souths thing becuse ayra dies in a big battle with the march of the elves on the capital city.
her other also dies
that whole thing with brom being earagons grandfather and somone is going to spill the beans to earagon
it is farfeched but maybe cristopher p. will bring in another character and follow his story but if he dose that the book will have to be way too long
maybe to beat galdabrax and murtah becuse i dont think murtah can be turned. i think earagon is going to draw power from that tree and somhow like blow them up or somthing along those lines.
maybe everything goes wrong and when earagon draws on the power of eaverything around him in a last ditched effort to beat galdorbrax he kills himself and saphera but the power unleashed kills galdabrax. and roran or ayra (whoever is dragon rider) is the last to survive of the battle and you see the end of the book through their eyes as both good and evil killed eachother in the final battle.
the only prblem with that is the prediction that earagon is going to sail off into the ocean so that might not worked but it is a cool thought that would make a great ending.
well either way i think the 3rd book is going to be AWSOME cant wait till it comes out.
i kind of agree that if you can defeat death, then you can defeat anything, because there is nothing more final than death...
that was some amazing insight.
I dont think the green dragon will come from the last egg. I think that before the Riders were destroyed they sent a young rider away so that someday he could come back and rival galbatorix, but only Oromis knows of the last rider and he will reveal this to Eragon now that galbatorix has another rider.
You know how the spine looks like a tail at the end i think its the last dragon without a rider and its in enternal sleep. Wich is why erogon never got hurt on the spine because he was a dragon rider!
i know this is completly insane but what if Selena is Angela the herblist?
i dinno if this is likely but it would be a funny twist.
i think that the third book will have more to do with Surda. it will help them gang up and fight against the empire.
i think he is very right in thinking what will happen but i think eragon is going to get married. i also think oromis is going to die and elsmera is going to be invaded during one of eragons lesson i also think that orik is the next dwarf king but iim not sure also eragon will kill galbatorix releasing murtagh but murtagh wants to stay evil and will rule algesia and eragon wil either be forced to kill or swear his alegence to murtagh if muurtagh dies i think eragon will rule algesia and be a good king i also think the kull and the urgals are still evil and will betray the varden. i think oromis knows how galbtorix is getting stronger each day and is going to tel eragon how and why. galbotorixs dragon is going to be set free and somebody in carvahall is going to hatch the third egg i also think thorn is going to betray his rider murtagh and mate with saphira and make more eggs and the riders will come back and another dragon hiding WHERE OROMIS LIVES thats right because when saphira gets hurt and eragon finds her there are green dragon egg shells on the floor
for those of u saying that orik could be the next rider, it is impossible, because a)dragons and dwarfs hate each other b) the dwarfs are not included in the blood oath that binds humans to dragons, and elfs to dragons. therefor it isnt possible to have a dwarf rider. and to those of u saying that murtagh will kill galbatorix, that to is impossible. not only does galbatorix know his true name, but he has sworne an oath to galbatorix making him his loyal servant. u cannot break that oath, for those of u saying he will kill galbatorix then murtagh will die. and oromis is for sure going to die
It seems obvious that arya gets the green dragon and lives happily with eragon. But i feel that before galbatorix dies Nasuada will fall in combat. And when the varden see's Rorans intense leadership qualities will select him to lead the varden. He will obviously have rescued katrina by then.
I think Brom was the blind beggar that can talk to Selembum because how else would Angela know his fate.
I think Arya will be Green Dragons rider because of Green Majic and Green Eyes
I think Garrow was a rider and he was Broms brother/cousin. That would explain why Brom said the Ra'zac didn't know about Eragon when they came instead of looking for Brom they were looking for Garrow. Maybe Saphiras egg was 'made' by Garrows Dragon and Broms Saphira. I think there will be more on Garrow in book 3. also Horst might play a big part in book 3 and he and Elain will rule Aleagasia. I think Elains baby will marry Elva in an Epilouge.
what if ergon rides the green dragon? I mean, its not like there's a LAW that states that a dragon rider can only have one dragon. actually, it would be pretty handy to have two dragons. If one gets sick, you always have another one.
smer voth, urzhad oen shrrg! (that's in dwarf langauge)
I think that roran could become the next rider but not likely, and murtgah will mostlikely die before galbatorix, but befor that at the begining eragon goes after the raz'zak which roran and him kill after about 90 pages. After that arya gets killed and the green dragon goes to that little girl with the isignia on her head and eragon removes her curse. orik becomes dwarf king take his army and with the elvs, urgals, and humans kills galbatorix but get pushed to the elves land where they all fight it out where eragon gets his new sword, and then reaches into the vault of souls when he doesnt have enough power to say the ancient language which means most likely "death" which gives him the power to slay galbatorix and shruikan. eragon then leaves for elf homeland.
I totally think that Eragon and Saphira will prevail Galbatorix, they will rescue the third egg and a new Rider (I think it will be Arya) will join Eragon. I also think that someone important to Eragon will die. I hope that Orik becomes Hrothgar's successor.
-These are only suggestions but anything can happen.....
i bet rouran will hatch the next dragon egg and murtah becomes good.
guys and gals... TORNAC IS DEAD!!! tornac is not a rider, he is not going to train eragon and he is not going to convert murtagh!!!! HE IS DEAD
... or so christopher paloni says...
ok, i am going to be mad if eragon gets a bunch of power from the vault of souls, b/c ormis said that galbatorix gets his magic in an EVIL way. eragon would not and should not stoop that low. i also agree that he cannot bring back all the riders and stuff because if you can defeat death, then you can defeat anything. death is the only thing that is certain.
i think that eragon should free the souls from the vault of souls, letting them rest in peace.
and the spine looking like a dragon. that is crazy, but yet... interesting...
it is called "the spine" like the spine of a dragon, and someone said that olderdragons could be mistaken for small hills!! wow! u r smart person!
yet also crazy
i think that Nasuada might be the next Dragon Rider because it is said that eragon would fall in love with someone of royal blood, and i read that Christopher Paolini(i think i spelled that wrong) said that it would be someone you dont really expect and arya is a bit expecting, also it probaly wouldn't be right for Eragon and Arya to fall in love because she is to old for him
I think that Arya will be the next rider because as stated before riders will fall in love as well.
I beleive that brom is Eragons father.Just because murtagh said he was in the ancient language doesnt meen anything you can still tell an untruth in the ancient language thats what eragons poem was about at the blood oath festival to prove you can still lie.Murtagh could say it because that is what he truly beleives so it is the truth to him.plus Blagden the raven told eragon"Father like son both blind as bats" meaning that Brom didnt see Morzans betrayal, and eragon didnt see murtaghs.another He couldnt be talkin about Morzan as his father, because he never knew morzan.Riders trained at Vroengaurd so he never met morzan. Blagden knew brom because brom went to Ellesmera to get the help from the elves.Another quote from blagden"while two may share two,and one of two is certainly one,one might be two."Eragon and murtagh may share two parents morzan and selena.selena is definately the mother of both.one father might be two brom and morzan.Brom would certainly have had time with selena while morzan was away searching for saphira's egg, also that would explain why brom lived in carvahall to watch over his own son.brom could not have been open to eragon about it because if he was then word would spread to the king that a rider and son still live. Then Galbatorix would have flown to carvahall himself to finish the problem right there.
Roran will rule alagaesia because of his royal bloodline.while Eragon leaves on the boat with arya to the original home of the elves alalea.that is my prediction.
Everyone’s biggest question. First, will it be good or evil? That the green dragon and his rider will be on the good side is expected; if the green dragon were evil, the Varden wouldn’t stand a chance. There are several candidates for the third rider, so here’s the list, in order from least likely to most likely:
Orik
The least likely candidate I’ve seen proposed to be the rider of the green dragon. People say he should be the last rider because then there would be the human Murtagh, the "elf" Eragon, and then the dwarf Orik. Supporting this theory is Orik’s apparent lack of fear when it comes to flying and the presence of Saphira herself.
However, there is significant evidence against the theory, namely the fact that dwarves were not included in the spell that links the dragons to elves and humans, which is what allows human and elf riders to exist. You could say that just as humans were added to the spell, dwarves could be, as well. And while that is certainly possible, you must look at the likelihood of it actually happening. First of all, what cause would there be to add dwarves to the spell in the first place? No reason immediately presents itself. Along with this, why would the dwarves wish to be added to the spell? A vast majority of them have no interest in even the slightest contact with dragons, and they (or at least a few of them) are aware that the elves and humans are on the decline because of their connection to the dragons, so why would the dwarves want to be connected and thus possibly seal their own fate of declining?
Therefore, Orik will most likely not be the rider of the green dragon.
Elva
Only slightly more likely than Orik for the simple reason that she’s human, and thus it’s currently possible for her to become a rider. Evidence for her comes first in the form of the dragon-mark Saphira placed on her forehead, and second from Eragon’s blessing, which should bring her to do great things in her life.
However, even in her present, magically enhanced state, she is quite simply too young to be a rider, much less a useful one. Sure, maybe she could use her magic to make herself old enough, but you must keep in mind Eragon’s promise to Angela: that he would remove the blessing/curse that he placed over her. And once he removes the magic from her, she will once again be an infant child, and that would mean that she will have no contact with the dragon egg.
So maybe, if there are more dragon eggs in the future, Elva will become a rider later in life. But it’s incredibly unlikely that she will be the rider the green dragon.
A character that has yet to be introduced
It’s always possible that CP could introduce a new character in book three and have that character be the rider of the green dragon. However, this is highly unlikely because both of our present riders of the new generation, Eragon and Murtagh, were introduced in the first book and had already received significant character development by the time they were riders. If a new character were to become the rider of the green dragon with substantially less development than the other candidates… I’m sure that many of us would be less than satisfied.
So, it’s unlikely that any newly introduced character will be the rider of the green dragon.
Roran
Now we reach the group of four characters who are the most likely to become the rider of the green dragon. The main evidence people suggest for him is that, as Murtagh and Eragon apparently have the blood of a rider in them, Roran, who they claim also has the blood of a rider in him, should be one as well. This is wrong, however, as Roran is only related to Morzan (the rider he is supposedly getting blood from) because of Selena’s marriage to Morzan, and therefore does not have any blood relation to the man.
Counting against Roran is first the fact that he is human and second the fact that he is male. More on why being male counts against him will come later, but here is a good place to address why being a human is bad for his chances of being the rider of the green dragon. Now, Eragon spent about four months training with Brom and about ten months training with Oromis, and even after all that time and training, Murtagh was still able to beat him, with apparent ease. For Roran to be effective in battle, he would likely have to train for even longer that, and that’s an amount of time that the Varden just doesn’t have in this war. It’s likely that the Empire could win the war in that amount of time.
So, it’s possible but not probable that Roran will be the rider of the green dragon.
Nasuada
The third most likely choice for the rider of the green dragon. Nasuada is likely for several reasons: first, she’s female. Presently every rider that’s alive is male, a rather unbalanced situation. That makes the market for a female rider that much more open. Second, she’s the leader of the Varden, and being in such an important position, she’d likely have access to the egg, once stolen, before all members of the Varden aside from those who do the actual stealing. A third point some people bring up is that she could be related to Eragon and Murtagh (highly unlikely, borderline impossible—more on that in a moment), and because they are both riders, she should be as well.
The main argument against Nasuada is the simple fact that she’s human, as is the case with Roran above. But along with that, it must be considered that Nasuada commands the Varden’s armies. The Varden cannot afford for their army to be without a commander for such a length of time.
Now, to address why she cannot be related to Murtagh or Eragon: if she’s related to them, it’s obviously through Selena, as we know her father was Ajihad. However, it must be considered that, first of all, Nasuada and Murtagh are approximately the same age. Yes, I know that twins are possible, but how does a woman manage to have two children by two different fathers growing in her womb at the same time? Answer: it’s impossible. There’s more evidence, but after that explanation there’s really no need to elaborate. Nasuada is not at all related to Eragon and Murtagh.
So, it’s possible but not probable that Nasuada will be the rider of the green dragon.
Vanir
Vanir is likely for the same reason that Nasuada is unlikely: he is an elf. The fact that he is an elf means that he is already trained in the ways of magic, and that means that, were he to become the rider of the green dragon, he would need significantly less training than any human candidate.
Against Vanir is the fact that he is male. Not that this last dragon is sexist, but as Saphira has told Eragon, whoever she or Eragon loves will affect the feelings of the other. So if Saphira falls in love with the green dragon (which is very likely—more on that later), her love for the green dragon would cause Eragon to develop feelings towards the green dragon. However, because a human can’t have feelings of that sort for a dragon, his emotions would be directed towards someone more accessible: the green dragon’s rider. It does seem likely that Eragon will develop a relationship with someone in the third book, and even more likely that that someone will be the green rider, and that he will have a child with that partner, for that reason the third rider is likely to be female.
So, it’s possible that Vanir will be the rider of the green dragon.
Arya
Arya is the most likely candidate to become the rider of the green dragon. First, there is the fact that she is an elf, and a strong and talented elf at that. From what we’ve seen of her skills both with magic and with the sword, she would require very little training to be useful in battle, merely enough time for the green dragon to become mature enough to fight well in battle, which would be as soon as the green dragon learned to breathe fire, around six months after hatching. Along with that, Arya is female, and not just that but Eragon’s love interest. If Saphira were to fall in love with and mate with the green dragon, that would change Arya’s feelings for Eragon and the two of them would fall in love, as well. Third, two of the most often mentioned facts about Arya are her eye and magic color: emerald green. While eye color certainly has nothing to do with becoming a dragon rider, all of the riders we’ve seen so far in the trilogy have possessed magic the color of his dragon. While there is no evidence that this is always true, it can be interpreted as foreshadowing to her upcoming relation to the green dragon.
The main piece of evidence against Arya is that people claim she is too old. However, there is no evidence that there is a set age limit for becoming a rider, so such a point is meaningless.
So, it is highly likely that Arya will be the rider of the green dragon.
The Weapon Under the Menoa Tree
Ah, Solembum’s words. "When the time comes and you need a weapon, look under the roots of the Menoa tree. But what will this weapon be?
Some say that Eragon has already received his weapon: his transformation at the Agaeti Blodhren. They say that he was under the Menoa tree when he was transformed, and because of this, the transformation was his weapon.
However, this is likely not the case for the simple reason that it does not match up with Solembum’s words. First, he must be looking for this weapon, and at that time he certainly was not attempting to find a weapon, he was just watching the ceremony. And along with this, the weapon may have been under the Menoa tree, but it was not under the roots of the Menoa tree, which Solembum specified as criteria for this weapon. So, his transformation likely was not the weapon.
No, it’s much more likely that the weapon will be just that: an actual, physical weapon. Say, a sword or, more specifically, Brom’s sword. Remember, it’s said that Brom lost his sword. Seems like an odd place to lose it, though, under a huge tree far from where the fighting during the Fall (the time when he most likely lost his sword) took place. But then, that’s why we must look someplace else: in this case, the dictionary.
Look at the definition for, "root." In my dictionary, the #3 definition is the word, "origin." Therefore, instead of looking under the physical roots themselves, Eragon must look to the origins of the Menoa tree: two old elven families, both of which are in possession of the swords of old riders that they salvaged from the wreckage of the battles of the Fall. One elven family will have Brom’s sword, which they will gladly give to Eragon when he comes to see them. As for the other elven family with a sword… They’ll give it the third rider, whose green dragon will match the sword in their possession.
The Vault of Souls, its Location and its Contents
Once again, it’s time to look at what Solembum has told Eragon. "Then, when all seems lost and your power is insufficient, go to the rock of Kuthian and speak your name to open the Vault of Souls."
Where is the Vault of Souls, first of all? Some say that it is on Doru Areaba, the great city of the riders. Others say that it is the Star Sapphire of Tronjheim. However, there is one location that seems much more likely: Helgrind.
Now, if you examine the description of Helgrind, you’ll notice that it looks strikingly similar to a rock formation in New Mexico known as Ship Rock. If you switch the words around a bit, you get… Rock of Ship. Looks a bit like the Rock of Kuthain, doesn’t it? The other reasons for Helgrind to be the likely location of the Rock of Kuthain become clear later, in the discussion of the contents of the Vault of Souls.
So, then we move onto the likely contents of the Vault of Souls. Sounds pretty basic, doesn’t it? It’s a vault… containing souls. But for what purpose, and from where? Remember when Eragon was fighting Murtagh? He discovers that Murtagh’s mind seemingly contains multitudes—multitudes of souls. So clearly, Murtagh is drawing his power from other souls along with his own, and if he was taught by Galbatorix, then it stands to reason that Galbatorix does, as well.
But where do the souls come from? Well, if we’re supposing that the Vault of Souls is in Helgrind, that immediately reminds us of another sinister pair of characters: the Ra’zac. Now, the Ra’zac are the king’s personal dragon hunters, and also are creatures meant to prey on humans. So, it’s clear that these Ra’zac do a lot of killing. But instead of letting all the power of a soul go to waste, why not find a way to store it, instead? Say, to use a spell that, instead of destroying the soul of those killed by the Ra’zac, instead stores it in a handy vault: a Vault of Souls. This explains why Galbatorix is seemingly impossibly getting stronger every year: every time the Ra’zac kill a person, that soul is added to the Vault and Galbatorix (and now Murtagh, as well) become more powerful. Of course, the Vault of Souls is also a physical place, so why not throw in any dragon eggs for safekeeping? Namely, that of the green dragon.
And said contents explain why opening the vault will be so important: not only will it give the Varden access to another dragon egg and soon another rider, but it will also make Galbatorix and Murtagh both substantially less powerful, and give Eragon a fair chance at beating one or both of them (with help from the green dragon’s rider, of course).
The True Identity of Eragon’s Father
Hear me out on this one. A lot of you are screaming one very misinformed and meaningless thing right now: "Murtagh said that Morzan was his father in the ancient language, and since you can’t lie in the ancient language, Morzan must be his father!" However, this is not at all true, and in reality Morzan is not Eragon’s father. It is Brom.
First, you must understand that it is possible to tell an untruth in the ancient language. You see, just because Murtagh said it in the AL doesn't mean that it's true, just that he believed it was true. That was the entire reason Eragon wrote a poem for the Agaeti Blodhren: so Islanzadi could tell Eragon that it was possible to tell untruths in the AL, if you really believed that they were true. So because Murtagh has seen no evidence showing that Eragon could not also be a son of Morzan, and because they do share a mother, he believes that Eragon was also the son of Morzan.
Now, for the extensive evidence:
P. 546
"Son and Father alike, both blind as bats".
This is about betrayal. Brom was blind to Morzan's betrayal, and Eragon was blind to Murtagh's betrayal.
Consider this quote from page 280 of Eldest: (Oromis) "Morzan was my greatest failure. Brom idolized him. He never left his side, never contradicted him, and never believed that he could best Morzan in any venture. Morzan, I'm ashamed to admit-for it was within my power to stop-was aware of this and took advantage of Brom's devotion in a hundred different ways. He grew so proud and cruel that I considered separating him from Brom. But before I could, Morzan helped Galbatorix to steal a dragon hatchling, Shruikan, to replace the one Galbatorix had lost, killing the dragon's original rider in the process. Morzan and Galbatorix then fled together, sealing our doom."
"You cannot begin to fathom the effect Morzan's betrayal had on Brom until you understand the depth of Brom's affection for him. And when Galbatorix at last revealed himself and the Forsworn killed Brom's dragon, Brom focused all of his anger and pain on the one who he felt was responsible for the destruction of his world: Morzan."
I think that sums it up.
Riddle #3 - This is the most important one
p. 546
"While two may share two,
And one of two is certainly one,
One might be two."
While two sons (Eragon and Murtagh) "may" share the same two parents (Morzan and Selena),
And one parent of two parents, the Mother-Selena, is certainly the same one parent of both sons,
One parent, the Father, might be two Fathers (Brom and Morzan) each having one of the sons.
What in the world could this riddle be about if it doesn't support the two-father theory?
One last fact: Blagden never met Morzan so he could not have been talking about him. Morzan was never blind. He knew exactly what he was doing. He was after power. Brom was the only one who was blind by his insane idolization of Morzan.
Eragon pages 281-282:
While they spoke, Saphira crawled into the cave and greeted Eragon. She was glad to see him, but there was deep sadness in her thoughts and words. She laid her big blue head on the floor and asked, "Are you well again?"
"Not quite."
"I miss the old one."
"As do I... I never suspected that he was a rider. Brom! He really was an old man - as old as the Forsworn. Everything he taught me about magic he must have learned from the riders themselves."
Saphira shifted slightly. "I knew what he was the moment he touched me at your farm."
"And you didn't tell me? Why?"
"He asked me not to," she said simply.
Eragon decided not to make an issue of it. Saphira never meant to hurt him. "Brom kept more than that secret," he told her, then explained about Zar'roc and Murtagh's reaction to it. "I understand now why Brom didn't explain Zar'roc's origins when he gave it to me. If he had, I probably would have run away from him at the first opportunity."
"You would do well to rid yourself of that sword," she said with distaste. "I know it's a peerless weapon, but you would be better off with a normal blade rather than Morzan's butchery tool."
"Perhaps. Saphira, where does our path go from here? Murtagh offered to come with us. I don't know his past, but he seems honest enough. Should we go to the Varden now? Only I don't know how to find them. Brom never told us."
"He told me," said Saphira.
Eragon grew angry. "Why did he trust you, but not me, with all this knowledge?"
Her scales rustled over the dry rock as she stood above him, eyes profound. "After we left Teirm and were attacked by the Urgals, he told me many things, some of which I will not speak of unless necessary. He was concerned about his own death and what would happen to you after it. One fact he imparted to me was the name of a man, Dormnad, who lives in Gil'ead. He can help us find the Varden. Brom also wanted you to know that of all the people in Alagaesia, he believed you were the best suited to inherit the Riders' legacy."
Tears welled in Eragon's eyes. This was the highest praise he could have ever received from Brom. "A responsibility I will bear honorably."
"Good."
Clearly Brom has told Saphira of things that he wouldn't want revealed to Eragon until he is mature enough. Eragon would undoubtedly be distraught enough after losing his mentor, and to find out that Brom is also his father would completely confuse and demoralize him at a time when survival is paramount.
Eldest page 656:
Saphira ruffled his hair with a gust of hot breath. "Just remember, whatever Brom's reasons, he always tried to protect us from danger. He died saving you from the Ra'zac."
"I know.... Do you think he didn't tell me about this because he was afraid I might emulate Morzan, like Murtagh has?"
"Of course not."
He looked at her, curious. "How can you be so certain?" She lifted her head high above him and refused to meet his eyes or to answer. "Have it your way, then."
This is an enormously important quote. Saphira is waiting to tell Oromis/Glaedr (she might have done so already) about Brom being Eragon's father. I think it's a sure bet that Oromis will be the one to tell Eragon the truth. Just like in Book 1, Saphira knows that Eragon isn't quite mature enough to receive this information.
Plus, if you look at it from a logistical standpoint, you'll notice two things: 1) Inheritance is a coming-of-age story/trilogy, and Eragon shouldn't (and hasn't) come of age by the end of the second book and 2) Christopher Paolini just dropped a huge bombshell a mere 4 pages ago that Morzan is Eragon's father - that would be absolutely horrendous writing to reveal something like that and then change it 4 pages later. This "revelation" is the big twist at the end of the novel. It's just that we'll find out that it wasn't really a twist after all.
There is a chapter in Eldest titled "Inheritance." In it, Murtagh takes Zar'roc from Eragon and claims it as his inheritance. This conveniently leaves Eragon without a sword. In the third book Eragon will get his inheritance and his proper rider's sword (meaning that it matches the color of his dragon).
We are never told what happens to Brom's sword. It is only mentioned indirectly when Eragon converses with the elf sword maker Rhunon. She mentions that there are only two of her swords left (other than Morzan's and Oromis'), and they happen to each be held by two elven families. One is Brom's, and the other is likely a green sword that will go to the rider of the green dragon.
This makes Brom’s sword Eragon’s inheritance, and this is the Inheritance Trilogy, after all.
However, there are some other questions that must still be answered. For example, why, if Brom was Eragon’s father, would he not raise his own son while both live in Carvahall? And why would Brom never tell Eragon that he was his father?
In response to those two questions: there was no evidence whatsoever to imply that Eragon would be a rider in his early life. Brom was there in Carvahall to watch over him, and he did teach his son all about the old ways. When Eragon went to Brom's to ask him questions about the riders Brom answered all of his questions. One of the best ways to teach is through stories, and in order to have Eragon learn more he had to be interested in riders and their history. I also think that if Brom said that he was Eragon's father and a Rider, Eragon would be a whole lot less likely to believe that the riders really did exist and that they had fallen. If you're told that all of the riders are dead, except that this ordinary storyteller that everyone's known for 15 years is one, the stories would be a whole lot less credible.
There's also the fact that if Brom told Eragon that he was his father, other people in Carvahall would probably find out and word of it might leak back to Galbatorix. If Galbatorix found out that the last remaining rider and his son were living in Carvahall, I believe he would have left Uru'baen and gone out to destroy the village.
Thirdly, if Eragon knew that Brom was his father, he could possibly reveal it when someone enters his head (like the twins) and the odds were reasonable (and it actually happened in the book) that the one(s) who find out that Eragon is Brom's son worked for Galbatorix. If Galbatorix found out that the newest rider that wasn't under his control was the son of Brom, he would have to assume that he was raised by Brom, and was the beneficiary of a lifetime of teaching by Brom. Since we know Brom was powerful and strong enough to have a hand in the deaths of eight of the Forsworn, his lifetime knowledge passed down to his son would make Eragon a much more deadly enemy than if Eragon was raised by a random farmer and never had any contact with Brom. If Galbatorix believed that Eragon was Brom's son, he himself would have flown to the battle at the end of Eldest, and it would have been a forgone conclusion.
And the big question: if Brom is indeed Eragon’s father, then how on earth would he and Selena have a chance to "make" Eragon?
The potential for an affair comes to mind, or for a king Arthur-type situation. Or, as we don’t know exactly how long Selena was missing from the castle ("many months" is a very unclear length of time), she could have met Brom and fallen in love with him after running from the castle. Bear in mind that around the time of Selena’s disappearance, Morzan was off searching for Saphira’s egg, which had just been stolen, so would not have been around the castle or seeing Selena at any time. And that give Brom ample opportunity to see her.
Brom’s Seven Words
Remember these? Just before his death, Brom tells Eragon seven words in the ancient language, then what they mean, and then he tells them only to use the words in great need. What these words could possibly be, however, is open to much interpretation.
The first theory is that these words are Eragon’s (or someone else’s) true name, yet this is unlikely for many reasons, first because seven words is far too long to be a person’s name, second because telling a person their true name can be incredibly dangerous, and third, how on earth would Brom know? Instead of that, it could be possible that these words have something to do with the Menoa tree, perhaps a way to communicate with it in some way. However, this seems unlikely because something like that would be more of an interest than something that should only be used in great need. Another theory is that the seven words are some sort of password to be told to the family in possession of Brom’s sword so they will know to give it to Eragon, but again, that does not sound like something that should be used, "only in great need."
Another possibility is that what Brom told him is a spell that human dragon riders could use to boost their physical attributes to become equal to those of an elf, or perhaps the enchantments that Oromis uses to keep himself alive despite his sickness or how elves can sing to trees and other plants. That would explain why no elf knew of (or planned to teach Eragon) these spells, but Brom did. This seems unlikely, however, because Eragon has already had his attributes boosted to match those of an elf (thus making Brom’s words useless) and singing to trees doesn’t seem to be a very useful ability and especially not one that should only be used when the need is great.
The most likely (and simplest) explanation, of course, is that these seven words are a very powerful spell (of either destruction or healing) that, unfortunately, has a terrible energy cost or other price attached to it that means the spell should only be used in the most dire of situations. Of the two choices, destruction is much more likely.
The New Dwarf King
The question here is simple: Orik or someone else? The other dwarves seemed to be against Hrothgar and his pro-dragon policies; as Orik also seems pro-dragon, likely the other clan leaders (as Orik is Hrothgar’s heir, he will take control of Durgrimst Ingietum) will vote for one other than Orik as new king.
Unless, of course, something happens to change their minds before the election takes place. Now, it will be a while before a new dwarf king will be elected, as Hrothgar must be buried first, and he will have a long way to travel before he can be laid to rest. That gives Eragon and Saphira ample opportunity to do a variety of things, one of which will be Saphira healing the star sapphire. After Saphira fixes, "the heart of Tronjheim," that likely will change the hearts of the dwarven clan leaders and cause them to act in the interest of their now pro-dragon people: to elect a pro-dragon candidate. And that candidate would be none other than Orik. However, the clan leaders likely will not act as one, and it will shape up to be a rather messy election.
So, expect Orik to become the king of his people, but the process may not be pretty.
Eragon’s Love
Who will Eragon fall in love with? It’s part of Angela’s prediction, that, "an epic romance is in your future, extraordinary, as the moon indicates—for that is a magical symbol—and strong enough to outlast empires. I cannot say if this passion will end happily, but your love is of noble birth and heritage. She is wise, powerful, and beautiful beyond compare." So, there are two possibilities: either he will fall in love with Arya, or he will not.
If he does not fall in love with Arya, than who with? Or will he fall in love again at all? Some people claim that he will fall in love with Katrina, but that is simply idiotic: why on earth would he fall in love with a person who is already engaged to his brother? It makes no sense. Eragon will not fall in love with Katrina.
Another option, slightly more likely, is Nasuada. People have said that because Arya does not return Eragon’s love, it does not qualify as romance and therefore his epic romance is still to come. They also claim that she would fulfill the prophecy because, as leader of the Varden, she is certainly noble. However, this is not correct, for the prophecy reads, "of noble birth and heritage," meaning that Nasuada would have to be born into nobility to fulfill it, and as she was merely born to a man who was fleeing from the empire and not some manner of royalty. But regardless of the prophecy, it still seems unlikely that Eragon and Nasuada will fall in love. After all, Nasuada has a rebellion to lead, and falling in love with one of her vassals is certainly going to disrupt the war effort.
And of course, the possibility remains that Eragon will never fall in love after ending his pursuit of Arya. But I believe that we will see more evidence connected to other theories that makes this option also very unlikely.
Now, it is of course the most likely that his love for Arya is the fulfillment of the prophecy, and when Saphira mates with the green dragon, ridden by Arya, that will influence Arya to fall in love with Eragon, and there will be the epic romance. And, of course, because they are both riders and therefore understand each other perfectly, this romance will have a happy result.
Saphira’s Mate
One of the most important questions concerning the future of Alagaesia: who will be Saphira’s mate? There are five possibilities, some more likely than others.
The first and least likely is Glaedr. The argument for him is that he is the only male dragon currently on the same side as Saphira, so when the situation begins to look bleak the two of them will have to mate to sustain their race. However, Glaedr has already refused Saphira once, and likely she’s learned her lesson and won’t try again.
Another possibility is that Saphira and Eragon will search for wild dragons, and Saphira will find one willing to be her mate. However, Saphira and Eragon are going to be busy with a war, and will have no time to go and search for other dragons, making this option also unlikely. It is possible that they could search after the war, there is another theory that essentially disproves this that I’ll get to later.
Thorn and Shruikan have pretty much the same chance, but the only real way for Saphira to mate with either of them would be if she were captured by Galbatorix. If captured, Saphira would be forced to mate with one of them, and there’s no way Saphira is strong enough to resist them. This is quite possible, but considering CP’s plot so far, it is not as likely as…
Saphira falling in love with the green dragon. Varden gets egg, egg hatches, green dragon matures, falls in love with Saphira, they mate. Sounds simple, is simple. If Saphira wants a mate on her side of the war and Glaedr isn’t going to, the only option for her is the green dragon.
The green dragon and Thorn or Shruikan are both equally likely based on the evidence, so you have to consider which is more likely based on what CP has written so far. Now, so far, nothing bad has happened to Saphira. That can mean one of two things: either nothing will happen to her, or she’s due for something bad to happen. But it’s more likely that nothing bad will happen to her, and she will fall in love and mate with the green dragon.
Who Will Die?
Who, exactly, of the major characters, is going to die? Obviously Galbatorix will; that goes without saying. It’s highly likely that Oromis and Glaedr will as well, Oromis from his mysterious disease and Glaedr from Oromis’ death. People also seem to think that Thorn will die, but Murtagh will not. It is certainly possible, as Murtagh is on the side of evil (if reluctantly), but Galbatorix will not make the mistake of leaving loopholes in his oaths again. That means that if Eragon and Murtagh meet again in battle, Eragon will be unable to show Murtagh any mercy. It is likely that Thorn will die, and Murtagh may as well, that is unclear. Whether the king’s dragon, Shruikan, will die is another debate. Some think that he will die along with Galbatorix, while others think that, because Galbatorix was not Shruikan’s original rider, the bond between the two will be weaker than normal, meaning that Shruikan will not only survive Galbatorix’s death but become good upon the death of his surrogate rider. As we have not yet seen Galbatorix or Shruikan, we cannot determine the strength of their bond and thus cannot determine the answer to this question, one way or another. However, Shruikan dying with his rider is more likely.
One of the strangest—and, even stranger, most popular—death theories is that Arya will die. But seriously, people. One of the most obvious things in this entire trilogy is that Arya will be the rider of the green dragon. And if she is that green dragon’s rider, and we know that there are two dragons in the sky in Eragon’s dream before Garrow’s death (more on that dream later, but it is rather obvious foreshadowing for the last scene of book three), that means that the riders of those two dragons (Saphira and the green dragon) must survive the war, and therefore Eragon and Arya will survive. And while we’re on the subject of main characters’ love interests dying, Katrina won’t die, either.
Of course, there will be some other casualties, namely a bunch of minor characters: several high-ranking Varden members (likely including Nasuada and Orrin), unimportant elves and servants of Galbatorix, villagers, etc.
Who Will Kill Galbatorix?
Yes, believe it or not, there are dissenting opinions regarding the answer to this question. The choice for Galbatorix’s killer is split between two people, one very obvious and one… rather odd: Eragon and Shruikan (if you think Murtagh will kill Galbatorix by throwing him into a bottomless pit filled with glowing blue electricity, please, for the sake of all mankind, commit hara-kiri… now).
Some people seem to think that Shruikan will turn good at the last moment possible and kill Galbatorix, typically by squishing him. However, this is highly unlikely. Regardless of how Shruikan originally felt about Galbatorix, the two of them have now been joined for a hundred years. Considering how much the two of them have been though in that time, it’s quite obvious that they care quite a lot for each other, and therefore Shruikan will not kill Galbatorix.
So that leaves one man to be Galbatorix’s killer: Eragon. As it should be.
The New Ruler of Alagaesia
With Galbatorix dead, who will rule Alagaesia in his place? It clearly will not be Eragon, for he will leave Alagaesia forever, as Angela predicted, and how can he rule a place when he is no longer there? And besides that, he has already expressed that he does not want to rule.
The new ruler will not be an elf or dwarf. They already have their own rulers in their own kingdoms, so that just leaves the humans to decide who will rule. So to determine that, we must look to the past rulers of humans in Alagaesia: king Palancar and his descendants. And where did the descendants of Palancar dwell before they were driven out by the soldiers of the king? Palancar valley or, more specifically, Carvahall. So, who is in charge of Carvahall? Roran. So he will rule Alagaesia as his ancestors did, with Katrina as his queen.
What Will Happen At the End of Book Three?
The answer to this final question can be determined by decoding something given to us relatively close to the beginning of Eragon: Eragon’s dream in the chapter Deathwatch. In this dream, Eragon sees some people boarding a silver ship. Two of them are apparently taller than all the others, a man and a woman who are holding hands. Then the ship sails away, and a man who stayed on the beach cries out, and as the dream fades away, two dragons are seen in the sky.
The two dragons are the easiest to decode: Saphira and the green dragon, flying away above the ship that they’re too large to land on. The presence of the two dragons means that their riders, Eragon and Arya, are on the ship as well. And as there are two people taller than all others, holding hands, that are specifically mentioned among the rest of those boarding the ship, we can assume that these two are elves and, most likely, Eragon and Arya. Them holding hands is another indication that they have indeed fallen in love. Eragon is boarding this ship because his destiny is to leave Alagaesia together, so of course his bonded partner, Saphira, and his love, Arya (and the green dragon), will journey away with him. And because Arya is an elf, where better to go but to the old home of the elves, Alalea?
The man screaming on the beach is up for considerably more debate. The possibilities are Murtagh (which assumes that he survives the war), Roran and, in an incredibly complicated theory I’m not going to delve into that involves the son of Arya and Eragon and a spell enabling time travel, the first Eragon. It being Murtagh is unlikely for a couple of reasons: first of all, if it’s him, where’s Thorn? It’s been said as incredibly rare for a rider to survive the death of his or her dragon, yet we already know of two: Brom and Galbatorix. So for us to have met more riders that have survived the deaths of their dragons than those who have not would imply against what we’ve already been told as fact, meaning that if Thorn is dead, so should be Murtagh, meaning that because Thorn is not present, the man is not Murtagh. Second, why would he be there, and third, why would he be screaming? There appears to be nothing on that boat that he cares incredibly for. He was friends with Eragon, yes, but certainly not enough of one to scream at his departure.
Which leaves Roran. Yes, of course he would be there to see his foster brother and brother’s wife, and the last two dragon riders in Alagaesia, leave forever. And of course he would scream in anguish at never being able to see his foster brother again, not knowing for the rest of his live what became of him. Roran fits." This is a quote from
http://www.shurtugal.com/?id=trilogy/book3/theories#1
I think that:
1. Roran or Arya will end up with the last egg. (I hope for Orik though, presuming he's still alive? I don't remember.)
2. We'll find out why Arya didn't answer about Faolin when Eragon asked her.
3. We'll see Eragon either stop stalking Arya and give up, or Arya give in.
4. Eragon will raise someone from the dead and live. *Rolls eyes* If what Brom said in book 1....
5. Saphira will fall in love with Shruikan. I have NO IDEA why I'm putting this.
someone said that oromis will die and either Roran Arya or eragon will inherit Glaedr. That can't happen because the books say that while a rider can live w/o his/her dragon, a dragon cannot live w/o his/her rider. Therefore if Oromis dies, so will Glaedr.
okay, a lot of people have this backwards. if the dragon dies then the rider can still live (such as what happened with brom and his dragon). if the rider dies then both the person and the dragon die ( so if oromis dies then glaedir will also die). Thanks
something that no one else seems to have noticed, is that Galbatorix is never seen in books 1 or 2. He is never described, the book hasd never ben seen from his point of view, or anythnig like that. I think that when Eragon confronts Galbatorix for the first time, he is going to recognize him from somewhere.
I also think that Brom is Eragons father and that is why he stayed in Carvahall all those years.
And about the Vault of souls or whatever, I think that Murtagh will try to help Eragon again, but Galbatorix will kill him. Then Eragon will go to the Vault of souls and speak his name and bring Murtagh back, free of all Galbatorixs spells and oaths.
And I also think that the weapon under the Menoa tree is not a physical weapon at all, Solembum says look under the roots, I think that the lady that became that tree is still of course in there, and that roots means history, and that the weapon Eragon will get will be all of the strength from that lady, enough to defeat Galbatorix
o k whats with all this talk about the green dragon mating with saphirea what about thorn i think the third dragon is a girl and arya or rohan gets her and thorn mates with her and saphirea to start the new dragon race
i think that shuriken will get away from galborix, and allow roran to be his new rider, and will bond with Roran and and give him a Ged Wey. Then Arya will hatch the green dragon. Then Eragon, Saphira,Roran, Shuriken, Arya, her dragon, will go and trap galborix, but he cast a spell that blows up most of Alegasia which kills most elves and humans. Then they make him stop Murtagh's fealty, and they all go with the remaining elves and humans go to were the first elves came from, and a whole bunch of dragons were there!Thats all I got.Not sure what else will happen
has anybody thought that maybe the new rider might be angela
Does anyone know when Empier is coming out.I heard march of 07.So if anyone knows when it comes out tell me.
A.T.
I think that galbatorix will get the egg to hatch(this is just an idea i dont blieve it). Or that someone just someone who you would not beleive is going to be the dragon rider. As you now if you have read eldest that eragon needs a new sword. When solubum (who ever you spell it) tells eragon about the monoec tree i think that it could be in the tree or in the family of the monoec tree because the tree is someone. and i think that galbatorix dragon will betray him. i also think that the book will be around 800 to 1000 pages. and that the new dragon rider will be in that book like the other books.
remember when murtahg said only glbatorix could release him from his vow.........well i think galby and eragon will face off, galby will fall on ground at mercy of eragon...eragon will order him to release murtahg of his vow and then chop of his head
I was wondering if anyone else did not care for the magical transformation of Eragon. I think the the books plodded along fairly well up till that point. It seemed two much like other lesser books when the hero gets in trouble he pulls out his magical sword and all is better.
I think choping off Galbatorix head after making him release murtagh is a good idea ,but maybe Galbatorix jumps onto his dragn and tres to flee, but Eragon and Murtagh chase after him in a midair battle Galbitorix
dies from the name the ancient langage.
I think one of the broken shards will be forgoten in he heart of Tronjheim that the dwarves are repairing and after saphira fixes it. Eragon might find it and the dwarves will combined it with metal to make a blue sword.
Eragon's Father (Part 1)
It's not Morzan
I know what you are asking: how can it not be Morzan? Murtagh said so in the Ancient Language! Let's take a closer look.
As we know, one of the twins found that Selena was Eragon's mother when he searched Eragon's mind in Farthen Dur. The twins just assumed since both Eragon and Murtagh shared the same mother that they also shared the same father. Eragon himself didn't know who his father was, so it's not like they found the identity of his father in his mind when they searched it. It's also apparent that nobody knew that another child of Morzan existed, because otherwise Galbatorix would have had his entire empire searched.
The twins, in an attempt to please the king, simply told Galbatorix that Morzan and Selena were his parents, or when told that Selena was Eragon's mother, Galbatorix himself made the assumption that Morzan was Eragon's father.
When Murtagh was told by Galbatorix that Morzan was Eragon's father, he had no reason not to believe it since he was hearing it from Galbatorix. When he told Eragon at the end of Eldest he believed it to be true so he wasn't lying and therefore could say it in the Ancient Language.
Just because Murtagh said it in the Ancient Language doesn't mean that it's true, just that he believed it was true. That was the entire reason Eragon wrote a poem for the Agaeti Blodhren: so Islanzadi could tell Eragon that it was possible to tell untruths in the Ancient Language, if you really believed that they were true.
Well, there still is a mountain of evidence to suggest that Morzan is Eragon's father right? Nope. It's mind-boggling how many people Christopher Paolini has fooled by simply having Murtagh say that Morzan is the father in the Ancient Language.
In all honesty, I was one of the many that made the connection that Eragon and Murtagh were brothers after reading Book 1. So when I read Eldest, I wasn't shocked at all to find that Morzan is Eragon's father. Upon further review, however, it is apparent that Morzan is not Eragon's father. There is absolutely zero evidence that Morzan is in fact the father other than the fact that Murtagh told Eragon in the Ancient Language, which as we know, means nothing.
Eragon's Father (Part 2)
Blagden's riddles point to Brom
The raven Blagden provides 3 riddles during Eldest that we are left to figure out. The first is answered at the end of Eldest.
p. 545
"By beak and bone,
Mine blackened stone
Sees rooks and crooks
And bloody brooks!"
Bloody brooks - the Jiet River is red after the battle of the Burning Plains
Rooks - (check the official definition) there is description of birds hovering above the battlefield
Crooks - Murtagh steals Zar'roc from Eragon
Eragon's Father (Part 3)
What Brom told Saphira in Book 1
Eragon pages 281-282:
While they spoke, Saphira crawled into the cave and greeted Eragon. She was glad to see him, but there was deep sadness in her thoughts and words. She laid her big blue head on the floor and asked, "Are you well again?"
"Not quite."
"I miss the old one."
"As do I... I never suspected that he was a rider. Brom! He really was an old man - as old as the Forsworn. Everything he taught me about magic he must have learned from the riders themselves."
"Saphira shifted slightly. I knew what he was the moment he touched me at your farm."
Eragon's Father (Part 4)
What Brom told Saphira in Book 2
What could Saphira not want to tell Eragon if it weren't that Morzan isn't really his father? I can't think of anything. What could be Brom's real reason for not telling Eragon about Morzan's supposed relation to him?
Inheritance
The post that explains the trilogy's title
There is a chapter in Eldest titled "Inheritance." In it, Murtagh takes Zar'roc from Eragon and claims it as his inheritance. This conveniently leaves Eragon without a sword. In the third book Eragon will get his inheritance and his proper rider's sword (meaning that it matches the color of his dragon).
We are never told what happens to Brom's sword. It is only mentioned indirectly when Eragon converses with the elf swordmaker Rhunon. She mentions that there are only two of her swords left (other than Morzan's and Oromis's), and they happen to each be held by two elven families. One is Brom's, and the other is likely a green sword that will go to Arya when the green dragon hatches for her (I'll explain this in another post).
Solembum says this on page 206 of Eragon:
"Listen closely and I will tell you two things. When the time comes and you need a weapon, look under the roots of the Menoa tree. Then, when all seems lost and your power is insufficient, go to the rock of Kuthian and speak your name to open the Vault of Souls."
Many think that Brom's sword will actually be literally under the roots themselves. An alternate definition of "roots" clears up a few things. "Roots" referring to the origin of something - meaning family. By looking under the roots of the Menoa tree, Eragon will find those two elven families who are holding those two swords.
The second "thing" Solembum tells Eragon is regarding the last dragon egg, which is currently being guarded by the Ra'zac at Helgrind (the rock of Kuthian). Conveniently, Roran and Eragon will be heading to Helgrind to rescue Katrina. The Varden/Elves' power is currently insufficient. They have to fight against two riders who are both stronger than Eragon.
The Vault of Souls business is interesting. There are likely two Vaults. Murtagh is described as having spirits inside him. The reason why he and Galbatorix have become so powerful is that they are drawing from the Vault of Souls in Helgrind. I believe, however, that there are two Vault of Souls. One serves as a dragon egg storage place. There just happens to be only one egg there at the moment (the green one). The other is the vault in which Murtagh and Galbatorix get their strength from. The most likely access it telepathically.
The Green Dragon, Arya and Eragon
His rider will be Arya
Let's get one thing straight: Eragon and Arya will get together. Obviously Eragon is deeply in love with her. Arya will stop resisting him eventually as a result of a couple of things: 1) Eragon's transformation from human to elf and 2) Once Arya gets the last dragon egg, Eragon will be the only one that is like her (which is ironic since Arya resists him after telling him that humans and elves are different). If you examine the text in Eldest closely enough, you'll note that by the end of the novel Arya has already started expressing feelings for him. The major quote is when Eragon tells her that "pursuing her wouldn't get him anywhere" and Arya remains silent (remember that they are talking in the Ancient Language).
The Varden/Elves cannot hope to win against Galbatorix unless they get another rider. More specifically, they are in need of an elven rider, one who is already proficient at magic.
Eragon and Saphira are also looking for mates, and their coming of age wouldn't be complete unless they each became satisfied romantically. As is stressed by Oromis, a rider and its dragon must work to become one being and function in complete harmony. The only mate that could ever suit Eragon would be another rider due to the fact that Saphira needs to be attended to as well. Eragon is already deeply in love with Arya, and the last dragon is conveniently male. Also of convenience is that the egg is hidden in Helgrind, where Eragon and Roran will be going to rescue Katrina. Christopher Paolini has said that Oromis will have an expanded role in Book 3, so it is likely that he and Glaedr will come along. We can already assume that Roran and Eragon will both be riding Saphira on the way there, but I think we can also assume that since Oromis and Glaedr will be going as well that Arya will come too due to her invested interest in Eragon.
Eragon already promised in the Ancient Language that he would return to Ellesmera to complete his training, which I believe he will do in the beginning. Roran, who will undoubtedly want to spend time with his cousin after being separated for so long, will come along. Roran will tell some stories about his childhood with Eragon to Arya. When he marries Katrina later, they will take vows in the ancient language.
Arya is the only logical candidate as the green dragon's rider. An interesting tidbit is that when ever her magic is described, it is green. Eragon's magic is blue. Murtagh's is red. This is definitely not a coincidence.
Brom's Importance
Eragon's father's identity is more than just "something that would be nice to know"
Brom being Eragon's father instead of Morzan will turn out to be very important to the plot and not just some nice thing that we'd like to know.
Most importantly, Brom's sword will be Eragon's Inheritance. After all, this is the Inheritance Trilogy.
Galbatorix will undoubtedly launch a propaganda campaign revealing that Morzan is Eragon's father in order to turn his citizens against Eragon. Revealing he is Brom's son, with evidence, will counteract this. Galbatorix's propaganda will hurt recruiting but Eragon's revelation will help morale immensely within the Varden.
With regard to the Varden, Eragon will be the rightful heir. The Varden must not be thought of as a government. It has to be considered a private organization founded by Brom. With that in mind, Brom is the owner and the elves are his financial backers. This will be important for a big reason: it will give legitimacy to the Varden's takeover of the state of Surda once Orrin is killed (it is reasonable to expect that most, if not all, of the current leaders will be killed so that at the end of the trilogy Eragon and Arya will be the only leaders). Eragon will swear fealty to Nasuada a second time, but as the son of Brom and with his father's sword.
Murtagh tells Eragon that Galbatorix was very happy to find out about Eragon's supposed parentage. This most likely has to do with finding out a true name. Galbatorix probably has a spell to find out someone's true name but he can only use it once on a person. That's why nobody, including Saphira, who likely knows, has told Eragon the identity of his father. They wanted his reaction to the revelation of Morzan being his father to be genuine so Galby would use the spell and thus couldn't use it again.
Nasuada, Angela and Vanir
Islanzadi is the mother of all three
You probably have noticed that parentage of Angela and Vanir has never been mentioned, and Nasuada's mother's identity has been kept strangely secret. Many have proposed the theory that Selena is also the mother of Nasuada, but this isn't entirely logical due to Selena's timeline and Nasuada's skin color, which is just as dark as Ajihad's.
The answer, however, is that Queen Islanzadi is her mother. This is part of a larger theory that a child was given to each Varden leader as he assumed power. Remember how it was stressed that having a child was the greatest form of love elves show? It was also mentioned that elves have the ability to change their appearance. Therefore Islanzadi changed Nasuada's skin color to match Ajihad's. Murtagh describes Nasuada as being more beautiful than the ladies in Galbatorix's court - meaning that she is better-looking than all of the women in the Empire. Certainly this is due to her being half-elf and having her appearance changed.
Not much is given regarding Angela's past, but I suspect that she is the resulting child of Islanzadi and Brom (he was the founder of the Varden). Angela looks fully human because Islanzadi changed her appearance to look human. Angela is fairly old by human standards, but looks young as a result. Angela being the child of Brom and Islanzadi explains a few things:
1) How Angela learned the magic she knows
2) How no humans have been allowed in Ellesmera since the fall but Angela has been there during this time period.
Lastly we come to Vanir. Vanir doesn't really act like the other elves - this is because he is half-human. Recall that Deynor was the Varden leader before Ajihad. Deynor is hardly even mentioned - his character exists only because it fits the theory that each Varden leader gets a child as a result of the elves' appreciation for resisting Galbatorix. Like Angela and Nasuada, Vanir's appearance has been changed, but this time to look like an elf instead of a human.
Consider the name "Deynor." It clearly consists of the words "or" and "deny." In order to incorporate the character Angela into Eragon, Christopher Paolini had to include Deynor in order for the each Varden leader to have a child from Islanzadi. Deynor is only mentioned twice, and both were just mere allusions to the fact that he was the former Varden leader. Deynor is clearly just an afterthought. Christopher Paolini had to include Deynor "or deny" Angela, who was a late addition to the story.
The First Eragon
He's the child of Eragon and Arya
Take a look at the following excerpt from page 81 of Eragon:
"Dreams roiled in Eragon's mind, breeding and living by their own laws. He watched as a group of people on proud horses approached a lonely river. Many had silver hair and carried tall lances. A strange, fair ship waited for them, shining under a bright moon. The figures slowly boarded the vessel; two of them, taller than the rest, walked arm in arm. Their faces were obscured by cowls, but he could tell that one was a woman. They stood on the deck of the ship and faced the shore. A man stood alone on the pebble beach, the only one who had not boarded the ship. He threw back his head and let out a long, aching cry. As it faded, the ship glided down the river, without a breeze or oars, out into the flat, empty land. The vision clouded, but just before it disappeared, Eragon glimpsed two dragons in the sky."
Obviously this is a very important dream. We know that this will undoubtedly come to fruition since Eragon has another premonition in Eldest and it occurs later in the book.
This dream depicts one aspect of the fortune Eragon receives from Angela: Eragon leaving Alagaesia forever.
The man on the beach is the largest mystery in the dream. The man is none other than the first Eragon. He is in fact Eragon and Arya's kid and is crying in agony because he must travel back in time and become the original Rider and won't see his family again for many years.
It is never mentioned what happened to the first Eragon after his role in ending the war between the dragons and elves. He is actually hiding in the Spine with his dragon Bid'daum, which explains why half of Galbatorix's army was wiped out and why Eragon experiences no trouble while hunting in the Spine. Also, Roran and the Carvahall villagers experience no trouble in the Spine during the journey from Carvahall to Narda.
As Roran, Eragon, and Murtagh are related, I think that it has to be Roran as the next rider. I don't believe that Saphira will die as she is the last female. As to how Galbatorix will die, maybe Eragon can find a way in the ancient language that will twist words so that Murtagh can escape Galbatorix and the three riders will kill him together.
Here's another thought...Galbatorix wanted Roran for 'information'. If he believed that Murtagh, Eragon, and Roran were related, since Eragon and Murtagh hatched eggs, then why not Roran. If Galbatorix could get him to hatch the last egg, he would have two riders on his side. If this happened, Eragon would not be able to withstand them for long, especially Roran.
I also think that arya will be the next rider. obviosly because the riders magic is the same colour as the dragon. aryas magic is green, the next dragon is green, so... what do you think? i think that arya will be the next rider. no question 'bout it!
I think that while fighting Galbatorix (who wants Saphira) Galbatorix will set a spell to kill Eragon, but Saphira says that if Eragon dies she is so mentally linked she will also die. Too late, Eragon gets killed and Saphira is dieing so Galbatorix sets a spell to revive him and it works (all this time Murtagh is thinking). Then Eragon is back and more powerful than before. He casts a spell on Galbatorix then Murtagh attacks Eragon for what he did to Galbatorix but with his new power it's no sweat. Then he tells Murtagh to come with him to Ellsmera but Murtagh reminds him that he swore in the ancient language and that Galbatorix knows his real name. But Eragon tells him that with his new power he undid those. So Murtagh joins Eragon with the last egg and together they hatch the egg to Orik and the three kill Galbatorix together.
Bye
(by the way birsingr is my new favorite word!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
this ios a werid guess but what if eragon went to the vault of souls revived eragon the 1st d-rider and togeture they defeat galborotix. And they revive his dragon too
feel free to make comments
i think it is obvious that Arya will hatch the third egg, Eragon will kill Galbatorix, Roran will wed Katrina and he and her will rule Alagaesia. And murtagh will loose his dragon, and he is part of his dream, crying on the beach
Why would Eragon order Galbatorix to release murtagh in that situation? He could just cut off his head and Murtagh would be released.
I see possibilities for Roran, either dragon rider or king. I also think that Murtagh will steal the last dragon egg and give it to Roran. He can't go near Eragon or he will have to capture him. The dragon will then hatch. The decendents of the king lived in Carvahall and the other city. If Selena and Garrow are decendents then why not have all three boys dragon riders. The problem is that a dragon rider should not be king. I am torn on this.
I think that the last words that brom said were the name of the ancient language. someone said that the elves had seen the past but not the future. i think eragon will lokk into the past and figure out what the neame of the ancient language is.
i think arya will be a dragon rider.eragon will marry arya.because angela's prediction of eragon's love with royalty.roran will rescue and marry katrina.galbatorix and murtag will be killed from a
desperate charge by murtag.
orik will be dwarf king.saphira
will mate with arya's dragon.
,may your swords stay sharp!
I saw 1 guy talking about Vanir.... Why he couldnt be the next rider? Guy's think about it!!!
Heres something else to remeber. Angela told Eragon that he would leave the content one day and never return. This is told to him when he gets his fortune told. Also, remeber the dream he had of a lone man on the shore while the others left him their, and he also saw a dragon at the end before it ended? I think he will possibly find another rider when he leaves.
i like alot of these predicitions. ok, first of all
1) i agree that brom is eragons father. selena came to carvahall then brom appeared there, interesting... also both the dragons were named saphira. AND his last dying words that eragon could not hear are something like "my son"
2) Roran will not be the new rider, but he will be the human king
3) Arya will be the new rider and all four (eragon, saphira, arya and the new dragon) will form a love.... square?
4) Oromis will die saving eragon
5) Murtagh is baaaddd he will not save eragon. angela said there would a betrayel in the family and how could he... unbetray? also murtagh is definitely morzan's son and it's always "like father like son" (which is why eragon's father is brom)
6) Eragon will bring someone back from the dead, probably arya or roran. actually even murtagh before eragon finds out that he is truly bad. The dead thing will involve solumbums prophecies. While eragon is dealing with the dead and souls and stuff he will see or hear broms spirit, which will tell him that he is his son. (kinda like harry potter when he sees his parents spirits, or star wars when the jedis come back in ghost form)
7) The two riders and ALL the elves will leave alagasia (like the elves leaving in lord of the rings) cuz they have done there duty and the will return to their homeland.
8) Nasuada will die because once the empire is overthrown, she is not needed. why keep her around. plus someone has to die close to eragon AND he swore his oath of fealty and he wouldnt be able to leave while under oath
9) Izlandi will die as well and Arya will be the elven rider queen
10) Orik will be king and stay in alagasia
11) something will happen with the weird dwarven clans. (the priest dwarves as well as the dwarves who threw their ring at eragon)
12) At the last of the battles. a group of dragons will reveal themselves (from the spine or the mountains or someplace) and help them win (kinda like the the mammoths coming out of the gorge in ice age 2)
13) galbatorix will die by either or a combination of a) eragon knowing his true name b) galbatorix trying a spell that is too hard
14) Just a random thought. Maybe eragon will never be with arya. maybe she just will never fall for him or she will die. also i think arya already has a love, that one elf she didnt want to talk about, also she has a picture of an elf in her room. if that happens.... i kinda like eragon and nasuada getting together. that would at least give her a purpose. however, she has a much shorter life than he does. that would suck. but maybe he gives her a longer life
15) one of the ending fights will involve eragon shouting brisngr and having flaming arrows... again
Obvious ones
1) galbatorix will die or brought down
2) eragon and roran will rescue katrina and roran will kill sloan
3) eragon will fall in love
Random twists that might happen
1) angela will die by the hands of either solumbum or elva*?
2) galbatorix is actually good and he is being controlled by someone else. once that someone else is freed then galbatorix becomes the rightful king
3) orik becomes the rider
4) since galbatorix and his dragon have such a perverted connection. his dragon will betray him and roran will get shruikin. and then arya will get the new one
People here mentioned similarity of the inheritance trilogy to the Star wars and Lord of the Rings but nobody seems to know the Earthsea cycle by Ursula Le Guin; personally I think that at least 50% are borrowed from this book, since there are both talking dragons and most importantly there is the True speech, in which one cannot lie and which you must use to perform magic;
Hint:Inheritance series, who will inherit what?
Discuss
Here's what I think will happen:
1. Eragon, Roran, and Saphira will rescue Katrina.
2. Eragon will return to Ellesmera with Saphira to complete his training as a Dragon Rider.
3. Either Roran or Arya will become the next Rider. (I think it will be Arya because her magic is emerald green just like the dragon.)
4. Eragon and Galbatorix will meet in their final face off and Eragon will of course win!
5. Roran will become king.
6. Arya and Eragon will fall in love.
I think since Murtaghah spared Eragons life that he may still be good. But Galabatorix may make him swear in the ancient language not to spare Eragon again but then again he may turn good.Saphira mostlickely will die and Eragon will bring her back.Orik i pray will be King. Arya might start to like Eragon. If she does i half to read book three.Orimis will die becaus of how weak he is.The Urgles will probably stay on Eragons side because he was nice to them.
I think that Eragon and Roran rescue Katrina from the Ra'zak, then go after the othewr dragon egg. Roran gets the egg to harch and they fight together to rescue Murtagh from King Galbatorix. Roran and Eragon defeat King Galbatorix and then will restore peace to the world. Saphira will mate with Roran's dragon restore the dragon population.
i thought brom said you shouldn't try bringing people back from the dead
I personally think that the next dragon rider has to be a women. and Paolini said its obivous who the next dragon rider is. There for it can not be anyone new so i think it will be Arya or Katrina. Altough I doubt it wil Katrina. I also think the elf who made all the dragon riders swords will make eragon one and the new dragon rider one to. :)
After roran and eragon kill the razac and rescue katrina i think jeod wil return to his hidden passage with arya and get the 3rd egg and that the dragon will hatch for roran or arya or some new companion then after eragon finishes his training
and that ergon will fly away with the new rider- after oromis finaly dies from his sickness after telling eragon some new truth he never knew ...again- and teach him or her all he knows and then they will both kill murtagh and and then galbotorix will attack the varden and destroy them killing nasauda and then the riders retreat to farthen dur and be housed by orik who i think will be the new dwarf king until they finaly leave with an army of dwarves a new human rebellion of mostly men from carvahall and with a few elf magicians to invade uru baen and then the new rider will kill shuirukan and then galbotorix will nock the rider out and eragon will kill him leaving roran or somone king and peace through alagaesia.
i don't think that saphira and the green dragon or are going to repopulate the dragon race, unless there are other dragons that we have yet to see, besides i tihnk more than once saphira said that the time of the dragon riders is over, they can never again be as powerful as they once were.
not unless saphira has a lot of children, and she has them with multiple dragons, otherwise the gene pool would just be impossibly too small for the dragons to be repopulated and be heathly and strong
I think that Eragon will capture the egg and roran will become a rider, and together they bring Murtagh to good and the three of them defeat galbatorix once and for all! also i think that ayra will accept eragon and start letting him get close to her. I think Roran will be a good rider. also roran's dragon and saphira will mate and restore the dragon population!!
i think that a new character will come into play that might do some thing importent because it has happened in both of the other books any way it is going to be a good book and it makes it even better if you cant even begin to gess what will happen.
I liked the idea about a pack of dragons in the spine
but what if those dragons were protecting or working with the gray folk
then they could come to the final battle when it seemed that the varden, elves, and dwarves would be defeated
I think maybe Jeod or Nasuada will be rider next because Jeod really likes dragons and would sacrifice himself to save one Nasuada just because it would be opposite of what is expected so Cris P. might decide to do that.
I think that it is obvious that Arya will become the next rider, i mean all the riders so far happen to be guys they definatly need a lady rider, Roran will probaly not be a rider because he might end up being the ruler of all Alagaesia. Also Arya and Eragon will fall in love and so will there Dragons, Saphira and other. Then Eragon and posibly Arya will leave searching for the other prehaps existing dragons and never return. Prehaps Murtagh Becumes good and Shruikan will become good as well, Thron might tern out to be just plain Evil because he was raised to it from the start, or maybe him and Murtagh are just fulling the king and then............
i think that vair is also gonna try to steal away arya and then to make arya jelous, eragon is gonna start hanging out with trianna more often. and like as more that friends... then arya will realize how much she actually liked eragon, and cry over that other elf and then get over him with the help of eragon. vanir will never have someone who likes him... he is too mean
Look at the facts Roran comes from Carvanhall or watever its called where the original kings cam fromm i see him as ending up as being the new king of the Broddering empire or however its spelt, the Razac will be defeated as that is the quest to unite Roran and Eragorn, Murtaghs fate is inherently linked to Galbatorix so he cannot be freed of his binding unless old mate Galba dies, the Arya Eragon relationship was never guaranteerd to work as Angela only stated he would love one of noble birth, Yes Orik will more then liklely reunite the dwarves to assist the Varden/Broddering empire, The major points occuring in the next book will be the quest for the Razac probably ending in the Rider islands watever they were called, as well completion of Eragorns training probably ending in Osmosis's death, the final stage will then be the confrontation/battle/leaving Alagesia bit, probably in search of fearl dragons where the humans originally came from.
I just can't understand how some people believe that Brom is Eragon's father. I think that Selene was afraid when she found out she was pregnent again and while she was at Angela's, Angela told her to go to Brom. Brom spirited her away to her brother, Garrow. After that, Brom stayed to protect and watch over Eragon in case anyone else made the connection. The timeline fits perfectly.
I Think that eragon gets his sword from under the tree were solbumn tells him it will be, and that eragon draws his power from the well of souls and gets really powerful , vanir gets the egg cause eragon sneeks in to galbatorix's place and gets captured tortured and escapes with it. i think in the end galbatorix will die and murtagh may turn back to good but i doubt it.
Here are some of my opinions.
I thunk that Brom is Eragon's father because Brom would not have stayed there if it was not like that because he had a hiding place with the Varden. The last rider will be Arya because the last dragon is green, her magic is green, and then the last rider would not need a lot of training and could help Eragon! Eragon will get Brom's sword from under the Menoa tree. Eragon will go to the vault of souls to get more powerful. I think this because it said when Eragon tried to read Murtaugh's mind that he heard a lot of screaming voices, souls to take power from. Thats why the king never stops getting stronger, he takes power from the souls and it makes him more evil. Oromis will die in his home like Yoda from Star Wars. Roran will become king because of his blood. Orik will become the dwarven king and the urgals will be given the desert to live in for helping. Wild dragons will be found in the Spine. Arya will fall in love with Eragon because of their dragons and they will leave to the old elven homeland.
ok so almost no one has mentionned this but Eragon might not end up with Arya, he might end up with Nasuada. All the signs say that Arya is not going to be with Eragon. The prophecy by Angela says that he will fall in love with someone noble. Nasuada is royalty. Also Nasuada is closer in age to Eragon than Arya is. As much as I want Arya and Eragon to be together, I think it might not end up that way.
Although, if all the signs point to Eragon and Arya not being together, then maybe they will end up together. i don't know.
i think that eragon will bring back to life brom, and kill galbatorix.i also think that something will happend with his real name.i am not sure if roran is going to be a dragon rider...
I think everyone is thinking too hard. Orik cannot become a rider because dwarf's are not part of the pact, but he would make an awesome king of the dwarf's.
I haven't figured out who will be the next rider but I don't think it will be a major char. Perhaps Elva, perhaps not.
Arya has already told Eragon that he is too young for her so I don't see them getting together. However, after the battle when Eragon went into Nasuada's tent, she threw her arms around him. Hummm.
Brom is not Eragon's father, but more of a protector/watcher because he knows Eragon's father and mother.
Roran, being related to Murtagh and Eragon, could become the next rider, but I am tending to lean more to him becoming king. He has a way with words and is not afraid. They may very well be decended from the orginial King. He can't be both though. It was said that a rider should never be king because he doesn't live a normal lifespan.
Arya's mother will die somehow and Arya will become Queen. We will then have Elves, Humans, Dwarf's and Dragons becoming united.
Eragon will go looking for the land of his ancestors and will never return.
Did I leave anything out? It should be a really cool battle that is about to unfold.
I agree with the idea that roran will be the new king of alagaesia. Eldest, as well as being about eragon also focuses alot on roran discovering his new talent to lead people and being related to a dragon rider would get him respect. I think the point of his role in Eldest is to prepare him and us for him becoming king. Angela predicted that eragon would leave and never return. I think that when eragon leaves he will leave roran in charge.
I also think that Arya will be the next rider, or at least that the new rider will be a woman. There aren't any women riders yet and it makes sense that saphira will fall in love with the green dragon and because riders and their dragons' emotions are tied together, that eragon will fall in love with the new rider.
Finally a point about eragons heritage. I not so convinced that morzan really was his father. He and murtagh have the same mother but it is possible that maybe when Selena was pregnant with eragon, that maybe morzan thought it was his child but it really wasn't. If this is true then I think his father was Brom. It makes sense. That could be why brom stayed at carvahall, to watch over his son. They couldn't tell eragon because that would've put him in danger and they also did not want brom's true identity known. If you think about it, it does fit. Morzan had a red dragon and red sword and now so does his son, murtagh. Brom had a blue dragon also called saphira and obviosly a blue sword. The whole trilogy is about eragon discovering his identity. The series is the inheritance trilogy. It doesn't make sense that eragon discover his identy in the second book already. I think he will discover that Brom was his father in book 3 and like murtagh, he will recieve his father's sword as his inheritance. I also think saphira knows this as Brom told her many things he never told eragon. She knew he was a rider and i think brom asked her to reveal it to eragon when he was ready.
This is just a theory but i think its quite possible.
I would like to think that Arya is the next rider of the green dragon but it does not make much sense because she has been in contact with the egg many times taking it back and forth from elsmeria to the varden and it hasnt hatched for her yet so what makes you think that it will now.
I think Eragon will fight Galbatorix and Galbatorix will kick Eragon just like he did to Vrael. Then Galbatorix wil have the point of his sword against Eragon's throat, and say a few words. But Murtagh will finally turn good and stop Galbatorix, thus alloying Eragon to kill Galbatorix. But Murtagh might just die in the process. Also, I think Arya is a very good canidate for being the next Rider. Because her magic is Emerald Green and so is the Last Dragon. Plus, shes very storng in magic and swordsmanship, which means she will need very little training.
I think that in the end it will come down until when eragon and murtagha and gabaltorix are fighting and gabaltorix is wounded by eragn and gabaltorix orders murtaghu to finish off eragon i believe that murtaghu will turn on him and kill him but will die to because of his swearing in anicent lang. and then eragon will try to bring him back but wont happen and also i think saphiru will die in th end to save eragon and eragon will become just like brom in the end and help the next generation of dragon riders like brom did and at same time hide and help the varden at same time.
Brom being eragons father i think is brillent i never thought of that. And maybe it has something to do with how angela talks about how he was a rider failed thatyou now it loved a women failed that maby that plays a role
SWEETNESS! OMG! I just finished Eldest, like, five minutes ago, and I really want to read the next book! Is that Glaedr on the front? Or is that the fourth dragon? I'M SOOOOOOOOOOO READY FOR THE NEXT BOOK! BRING IT ON, PALONI!
I think that Eragon will destroy the vault of souls which is how Murtagh and Galbatorix are so strong, Arya will hatch the third dragon egg, Eragon and Arya team up to destroy Galbatorix, convince Murtagh to join the Varden, and Arya falls in love with Eragon, Saphira and the third dragon breed and have thousands of dragon eggs to rebuild the time of the riders.....P.S. this is not how i expect these events will happen in this particular order......
I think that Eragon may use the vault of souls to communicate to brom
Galbatorix must die!
I think arya will be the next rider and ormis will still be alive to train her ( it would be to weird if erogon did)I also agree thatThe land will partly be destroyed and the darwfs will stay and roran will be king of the remaning people in alagaesia.
i like the idea of the dragons in the spine, but surely there would have been signs that these magnificant creatures were roaming the mountains, i agree that roran will be the next rider, it makes sense. I also agree that to much emphasis has been made about dying if you try to bring somebody back to life, maybe eragon will suffer injury and roran will give his life to save him??? I don't think ayra will be the next rider, her part in the story wouldn't fit if she was any more important (my feeling).can't wait for book 3
I don't think that Eragon will ever win Arya's heart, like so many people think. I think he falls in love with Nasuada.
I think that Roran becoming the next rider is an excellent idea, but perhaps to obvious. I think that Paolini has something special up his sleave for the last egg/rider (and I hope that it's not Roran, simply because that's what a lot of people expect, and that would be lame).
It wouldn't suprise me, either, if Galbatorix is defeated by Eragon giving his own life.
Why arya should be the new rider
And in elf standereds she is young
So, it is highly likely that Arya will be the rider of the green dragon.
I cant wait till erogon3 comes out!
It is imposible for Oriomis' dragon to live once the rider dies so does the dragon and I dont think brom is Erogons dad he must have known Morzan was Erogons dad therefore he stayed in carvhall to hind and keep an I on his enemy's son
I think that Arya loves Eragon but is engaged to someone else but doesn't tell him cause it will break his heart. But then at the end of book three she doesn't marry the guy but marry's Eragon. Hey! I'm just saying. maybe it's true. I just had this wild idea and wanted to say it.
I think that broms sword will be under the Melona tree with a scrol wraped around it with words of the ancient languge powerful words or mabye the anceint languge scrol will be under the tree and the sword in the river by Orimis house
I think galbatorix will die therefore leaving Murtagh free
and that eragon wont be able to remove his curse on Elva
I think that eragon will be king.
This will most likely not happen but Elva could be the next dragon rider. but i hope it is Arya.C.paolini said that the new dragon rider is someone who has been in all the books. And he said that the new dragon rider will come is a surprize but not a big shock.another reason it might be elva is because Christopher said that elva will be more important in the third book.but Istill do not think it will be elva.but it will mostlikely be Arya.one reason I think it will be Arya is because Eragon said (after his dream)that she felt important.Eragon already loves Arya but she does not feel it as much but I think in the third book Arya will fall for Eragon.Yes I do think Galbatorix will die .there could be a middle child between eragon and Murtagh.or and older one because Murtagh said that it does not belong to the youngest son.and I wonder who Nasuadas mother is?Here is an idea Angela read Eragons "later life" with dragon bones from a leg right?so those could be Gleadrs knuckle bones.
I think that Galbotorix is growing stronger each year because of the vault of souls. Remember that when eragon atatcked murtaghs mind in eldest he found a multitude of souls. so, every time the razac kill some one, it goes to the vault of souls and eventually into Galbatorix and now murtagh. This explains galbotorix's seemingly and impossible every growing power. So, if eragon speaks his name to the vault of souls, he will also gain this power, or perhaps block g + m's access. this will make him equal to them and possibly stronger because he also has his added elven abilities.
I think i have some more evendence for those who think brom eragon frather. REmeber in b1 eragon asked brom if he new his mother and he said anofe to miss her when she was gone. Were could they meet. Another seen is in book 3 when orimis talked about brom and he said he was a lot like brom always askeing questions. It could be something
i thinh that galbatorix will be defeated and murtaugh will ecome good. But someone inportant will die. i also think that roran will hatch the third egg. the only thing is that Roran won't be strong befor the battle.
i think eragon will free murtagh from galbatorix in the "vault of souls".
What if Angela is the next rider. then she would be double powerful.sorceress/rider magic
i don't think that there is a pack of dragons... i think saphira once said that she's the last remaining dragon beside shrukian... so having a pack of dragons in spine would contradict the fact. and arya will be the third dragon rider, thus explaining eragon's dreams where he sail away with 2 dragons flying (his and arya's), besides, arya's magic is green, and chris p said that the last dragon would be green. seeing that roran has come far in the story but only ending as a nobody, that would be rather wierd. but i still believe that murtagh and nasuada will rule while eragon and arya live in solitary. about brom brought back to life again by eragon, that's a great prediction... also that brom's eragon's dad, because brom told eragon that his eragon's mother was the one he held dear in his heart...
i agree that there may be new character/s brought into play in the final book but the thought of another rider is what most are suspecting so im not 2 sure if thats what christopher.P will do. and if the final battle is fought in the elven capital the oromis will join the fight 2 protect his home but he is weak.
Hi I'm known of as kzac.
I think that Eragon and Roran will rescue Kathrina and that Oromis will die. Also I think that Murtaugh will meet Roran. I also think the Urgals will join the Varden once and for all (not just to defeat Galaborix)or turn on the Varden, not just go back home and forget about it. I think something big might happen between Arya and Eragon. I think Horst will probably die and that Roran will have revenge on Sloan.
I believe that Galbatorix will not die because everyone believes that he will. Writers tend to do things that are completly unexpected. This causes me to believe that Galbatorix will live, but i believe that he will live in suffering. I believe that Eragon and Roran run into each other again but Roran can't be the other rider. I believe that a whole new character will be brought into the story. I also believe that the new rider will be a girl and cause some conflict.
have any of u noticed that eragon and starwars r a lot a like i mean eragon and luke r like the same. and so r brom and obi-wan
Luke: starts next generation of jedi.
Eragon: starts next generation riders.
Brom: Lives in carvahall to help train eragon.
Obi-Wan: Is on Tatowene to Teach luke.
Brom: Dies saving eragon.
Obi-Wan: Dies Helping luke.
Luke: Goes to Yoda because he is like the ouber trainer.
Eragon: Goes To Oromis Because he is like the ouber trainer.
So they r a lot alike. Lol
I agree with you Eragon is alot like Star Wars. Also, Murtaugh is like Darth Vadar, and Gablitrox is like the Emperor. And you could also say that Ayra and Nasuada are like a blend of Princess Leia. Or you could say that Eragon and Ayra, are like Aragon and Arewen. The trilogy has a plot like Star Wars, and a stting like Lord of the Rings. And the person who made their predictions, they're pretty good, but some of them, I disagree with, here are my predictions.
1, Eragon, Roran, and some other people will rescue Katrina from the Ra'zac
2, While they are in Hellgrind, they will discover the valt of souls, and Eragon destroys it (becasue it would be so low if he used the spirits) thus weakening Gablitrox's and Murtaugh's power.
3, They will rescue the green dragon, and it will hatch for Ayra. People are saying that Paolini has hinted alot that the next rider will be Roran, but they are getting it totally wrong, Paolini hinting at Roran being King. Also Ayra's magic is green, the same color of the dragon. If the dragon was Roran or Nasuada, it would take months if not years to train them, Eragon had already been trained by Brom, but it still took him months to not even finsih is training. And how will Eragon and Ayra fall in love, if Ayra isn't the next dragon rider. Unless, Paolini wants to shock us and have him fall in love with Nasuada or somebody else.
4, Saphira and the Green Dragon will mate.
5, Eragon and Ayra will go back to Ellsmera to complete their training, Oromis and Glaeder will die.
6, Eragon and Ayra wil go get their swords.
7, Somebellum's prohphecies will come true
8, Something is going to happen between Murtaugh and Nasuada. In Eragon, Murtaugh says to Eragon.
"Did you see that Nasuada! I seen the ladies of Gablitrox's courts, and none of them match her beauty and grace"
Also in Eldest, Nasuada says to Eragon.
"I too grieve your loss, I visited Murtaugh, and liked him a great deal.
And in the end of Eldest she is extremely symphetic to Murtaugh. I don't excatly what will happen, but I think of that Murtaugh has fallen in love with Nasuada, and Nasuada has at least some feelings for him. Something is foing to happen between them.
9, I forgot to tell this, Oromis will tell Eragon, that Brom is Eragon's Father. Murtaugh may of said Morzan was his fathr in the anchient language, but he believed this, so he wasn't lying. Remember the raven's riddle,
"Blind as bats, father and son."
Brom was blind to Morzan's betrayel, and Eragon to Murtaugh's. Also he says something about having one parent, but not two. I think that Murtaugh and Eragon, are half-brothers. That explains wihle Brom was in Carvahall, to watch over his son.
10, There will be a great battle1 (Duh!)
11, Eragon will first fight Murtaugh wound him, but not kill him remebering Murtaughs' mercy to him, then he'll fight Gablitrox, and just be about to be killed when Murtaugh saves him, Murtaugh even shows it in Eldest, that he loves Eragon more the Gablitorx. My disobeaying Gablitrox's orders, and having merch on Eragon. Then Gablitrox will kill Murtaugh, and Eragon in a rage will kill Gablitorx, despite being wounded.
12, Roran and Katrina will rule Algeaisa, after all they are descendants of King Palancar. Roran has already expressed great leadership qualities and courage.
13, Eragon and Ayra, get married, and go to the home of the elves, on that ship that Eragon saw in his dream, along with Saphira and the Green Dragon. The man on the beach screaming is Roran.
14, Orik will become king of the dwarves, and Saphira will rebuild the Star Saphire.
Hi this is kzac again.
I also think the writer might do something unexpected. But I still think Galaborix will die. I may be wrong but Authers sometimes do unexpected stuff (I should know, I'm writing a book at the mo. Its not finished or published yet though)
well im a bit late into this but i think that the kings death will be by Eragon's little fire sword display like he did to durza.Artya will most likely be the next rider, but in angeal's pridictionshe also said that he will "leave this land and never return" so it is possible that the riders never start with eragon as there leader. also i think the Razac will live. just a question but if reviveing though magic was possible (even if it killed the caster) dont you think thatthe elfs would have sacroficed a few lives to reborn powerful ridersthat could kill the king? its alot to think about and so long awit to find out. also if any of u seen the movie eragon, it sucked compared to what it could have been.
i think roran will be the new rider, mainly from what other people have said about his role and development in eldest
the final battle between galbatorix and eragon is still going through my mind, but i think it might be eragon wont be strong enough to kill galbatorix but roran will help and together they will kill him
after that, eragon will leave alagaesia and roran will rule it.
What about Elva being Eragon and Murtagh sister and the last dragon rider.
did enione think that morzans dragon was red (i think ) and murtagh's red to butt. since they share blood that wopuld make sens .butt eragons dragon isnt and i think that brom is eragons reall father
Everyone has good predictions.
I think that Eragon tries to bring back the dead and kill Galbatorix and Murtagh for betrayal.
I also think that he will be chosen to be the king of Alagaesia , but he will regret and make Roran and Katrina king and queen.
Hey Corey
I think that Arya will be the next rider because in (ERAGON) on pg. 485
arya uses green magic, and the next dragon is green.
and i noticed that most guys ride girl dragons except for oromis and glaedir
and i think eragon and arya will fall in love and so will saphira and the (Green Dragon) so then there will b a new race of dragons but maybe not riders.
also here are a few reasons i dont think that brom is eragons dad.
1. martagh said that he was brother in ancient language even though every1 says that he just thought so
i think he is brother
2. Pg. 102 Brom Says Eragon has more claim to Zar'roc than he does indicating that he is the son of morzan.
tell me if u think i'm wrong.
o by the way i think that roran and katrina will lead the varden.
tell me if u think i'm wrong.
I basically agree with everone on here but I cant stand the fact that roran is a rider I dont know why but it just bugs me.
Okay people, WHY does everyone think that if you're a rider, and there's another rider, you automaticly fall in love! People are saying that's why it can't be Roran (and I personally think it will be Arya) because then Eragon and him will fall in love! You guys don't know what you're saying, you don't have some spell that of when you become friends with another rider, and your dragons like each other you fall in love, that's not what they're saying. You just bond with that person, and you a course love that person, but not romanticly. So if Roran becomes the next dragon rider (which I don't believe he will) Eragon and him will have an even closer bond. GOT IT PEOPLE! By the way this is totally of the subject, but whoever thought that the "roots" of the Menoa tree, meant the origin of the elf women's family, you are a genious. And whoever thinks that Katrina, will be the next rider ,I'm sorry, I don't mean to hurt your feelings, but that's just plain dumb. And for that person who copied off the website, I think of that Murtaugh, will wound Gablitrox, badly enough, that Eragon will be able to beat Galblitorx.
Murtagh kills Eragon. Then bring Eragon back to life to free/kill himself.
Third, two of the most often mentioned facts about Arya are her eye and magic color: emerald green. While eye color certainly has nothing to do with becoming a dragon rider, all of the riders we’ve seen so far in the trilogy have possessed magic the color of his dragon. I have a few things to add.
First there are ALOT of spelling and grammar issues but..........
Moving on, i think there are alot of good theories mentioned and i agree with some, but many seem to be stated in ignorance and contradict with the book.
Also i'd like to add that those who think these books are like star wars, get over yourselves. I've grown up on Star Wars (parents are nuts about and so am I) and have read many books. You can make connections with almost any movie and book, or vice versa. It's called a plot, and there are only so many possible.
On my views of the third book, i agree that Arya or Roran with most likely receive the next egg but the possibility of a sibling was hinted by an interveiw with Chris P.. I don't claim to know much about the Solembums prophecy and have no guesses on that subject. I think many other beliefs have merit but i won't comment on them.
One more quicky comment, the people who are saying that Brom can't be Eragon's father, because Angela predicted that someone in his family would betray him, and if Brom is Eragon's father not Morzan, Murtaugh isn't his brother and isn't considered part of his family, someone else will have to betray him. Are TOTALLY wrong. Murbaugh and Eragon both have the same parent, Selena, and if they have diffrent fathers then their half-brothers, so there stil family. Murbaugh is actually more related to Eragon then Roran. So Murbaugh still betrayed Eragon. And he is still Eragon's family. Just as Roran and Garrow are.
